With Hazard's district, they should have a chance every single year to advance to finals.....very weak district and class A has been weak for the last few years...

 

Perhaps weak overall but not weak at the top. The top tier 1A teams regularly beat bigger schools. And I would say that fact is true in all the classes 4A and below.

I agree the top 6 or 7 single a teams have hard time finding people to play because so many schools are scared to play them

Do a search and you can read all about it from last season (I don't want to thread jack this thread). The KHSAA did attempt to enforce the rules, I don't want people think they did not, but a local judge who is also associated with Fairview heard the case and overruled the KHSAA.

 

After a witch hunt and multiple attempts by the KHSAA, the two Fairview players were ruled ineligible. Darren Billbarry who was a college teammate of Racelands head coach TJ Maynard was the lead investigator. The KHSAA appealed all the way to the Supreme Court and lost. The only spectator in the courtroom was the ex- Raceland Superintendent. It was not Ashland that had a dog in the fight.

 

It's a shame that tax payer money was used for a date of enrollment discrepancy. The date was no fault of the players and thus the reason KHSAA lost. The two players had Bona Fide moves. The rent and legal cost were picked up by the families. The two players are good kids which will be playing football for Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky.

 

Don't be surprised if more kids transfer from Huntington. The Huntington coach is not popular with most families, small school environment with no armed police in the hallways, a staff that cares about the kids. Why wouldn't families want put their kids in a better environment. Some of the families looking to better themselves at Fairview have some nasty football players. I look for the Eagles to reload and then some.

Fairview and Hazard play in regular season, so a benchmark will be available. I thought the Hazard fans were first class and like that the two teams will meet again.

Hey, I tried to prevent the jacking of the thread. lol.

 

How's this for refocusing? I think Hazard has a chance, probably one of the top 4 or 5 teams in this side of the bracket. However, I do expect them to take some lumps early on, but they will be much better by the time the playoffs begin.
