Good question. I think Rose/Bench is a toss-up

Morgan for me.

Like others above, as great as Morgan was while in Cincinnati, I just can't make a guy who had just 5 great years as a Red the greatest Red ever.

Think about this infield of all time greats:

C Bench

1B Perez

2B Morgan

SS Larkin

3B Rose (I know that's a stretch, but ...)

I wonder how that would compare to other teams.

How about this Red's outfield to go with that?

LF George Foster

RF Frank Robinson

CF Vada Pinson (career .286/.327/.442, 256 HR, 1170 RBI, 1366 runs, 2757 hits and 305 steals)

Bench is the first name that comes to my mind when I think of Greatest Red.

Today is the 50th anniversary of Pete Rose's MLB debut.

How about this Red's outfield to go with that?

LF George Foster

RF Frank Robinson

CF Vada Pinson (career .286/.327/.442, 256 HR, 1170 RBI, 1366 runs, 2757 hits and 305 steals)

I guess we could go ahead and replace Foster with Ken Griffey Jr. He played longer with the Reds than Joe Morgan did. You also could put Adam Dunn in for Foster. Dunn had more HR's as a Red than Foster or Griffey Jr.

My all time favorite is Tony Perez. The only time i ever purchased tickets in advance was when Montreal was scheduled to come to Cincinnati to play.I purchased tickets 6 months in advance.

I was at Riverfront for the first game Tony was in a different uniform. It might have been an opening day game. Very emotional, you could tell he was touched by the LLOONNGG standing ovation his first trip to the plate. We cheered loudly for everything he did that day.

How about this Red's outfield to go with that?

One of my favorite Reds growing up. Met him at a Cottage AC function in Covington. He signed my glove, stood there and talked baseball to me as if I was the only one there. I've never forgotten that feeling.
