If there aren't free gym memberships then you won't see any raging entitled liberals in there talking on their Obamaphones while not allowing other paying members to use the equipment they are using as a seat to talk on that Obamaphone.

I have a friend who has a handicapped placard and she legitimately needs it as she needs hip replacement and knee replacement and cannot walk without pain. Her car broke down and I was giving her rides to work in the meanwhile and using her placard when I parked at work. I had the placard for about a week and still used it even when I wasn't transporting her to work. I used it at Lowes twice and Walmart once and I'd do it again also. Why? Because I don't care.:wtf:

In the spirit of this conversation but somewhat not....Have you seen the number of Handicap spots outside of Target? Always empty and folks without a card have to walk from the back of the parking lot. All of the good spots are taken........I need a card for rainy days.....

Guru, the handicap placard is most likely for someone other than the driver. Anyone with a qualifying permanent disability qualifies for the placard. The placard is associated with the individual, not the vehicle.

Over half of the people I see with the placards never appear to have any physical limitations requiring them to need the placard. Doesn't mean the placard isn't needed for someone they transport.

When I hurt my ankle a few years back I had a handicapped pass that I would use if I couldn't find available, non-handicap parking close to the entrance of where I was going. I could walk alright in my air cast, but it was better if I could minimize the amount of walking I did. Maybe it's something similar. Would you consider that abuse?

 

Same thing happened to me. Tore all the ligaments in my ankle & was in a walking boot for about two months. The best decision I did was ask the doctor for a handicap sticker. At the time, I was in school & the best available parking was about a 10 minute walk from where I needed to be. I certainly could have walked that distance without any pain, it just would have been an inconvenience.

 

I used the handicap sticker sparingly. I did use it once when I was out of the boot and felt guilty about it. My ankle was still really sore & bothering me, but there was no visible injury (except a limp). I could have walked the full distance but there were several handicap spots open right next to the elevator in the parking garage. The rest of the parking garage was jam packed & I was short on time.

Just here at work we have at least 5 people with handicapped placards but are here at work. The irony in that sentence alone makes me laugh.

Since we all agree she is a liberal, it was ok for the handicapped sticker because she is handicapped, just mentally and not physically.

And if that handicapped individual was being picked up at SOAS? I know of many individuals with handicaps that use the bowling alley for example. Appearances can often be deceiving. SOAS is Guru's gym for those of us not local to NKy.
