Does anyone know of any players from the 13th, 14th & 15th regions from last year that are playin D1 or NAIA basketball this season?????

Tyson Gross, Rodney Mitchell, Daniel Combs, Preston Simon (Betsy Lane) and Jordan Noble (CORBIN) all play at Alice Lloyd. Combs and Noble redshirted this year, while Mitchell is the first sub off the bench for post play. Gross gets minutes from time to time, and Simon as well.

I think I read that it had been 5 or 6 years since a player in the 13th,14th,or 15th had played in a D1 game. Does anyone know anything different than that?

I think Sizemore went to EKU and Holland to Wake Forest. Did either get to play or were they red shirted.

If we are talking about sports other than basketball...Heath Castle from Johnson Central signed with UK as a pitcher in baseball. He is now with the Yankee organization.

Its hard for a mountain kid to go D-1 for several reasons. Obviously there has to be talent but also most are shooters that don't or can't play defense at that level. Coaches have a limited number of scholarships to use and if you can't play defense you can't play D-1. Plus in the past few years, not many athletes from the mountains have stuck it out at D-1 schools. I would love to turn on ESPN and see a kid from the mountains, any high school, playing but I just don't see it happening in the near future. I hope I'm wrong.

Agreed I would love to see it, but it isnt gonna happen.

I have to believe if he continues to put the numbers up he has been then he will get recognized no matter where he is from. Take Brandon Stockton, and Josh Carrier neither ever made it to the state tournament. While I would agree that a kid playing for a Lexington school would probably get noticed more, I still do believe that no matter where you play if you are good enough then college coaches will take notice. I am sure Coach Creech is doing everything he can to get his name out there to all of the D1 coaches. I for one have enjoyed watching Cody the three or four times I have seen him play and hope that he will get that offer that he wants and desreves.

They recruit players on how good they make there teams. Not if they can score 60 points a game. There are to many people out there that can put the ball in the hoop.

Well then I would say Gilbert is alright then. He might not make his team a constant winner but he doesn't let them be a pushover either.
