Boone County 8 Holy Cross 6 (8 Innings)

Featured Replies

Sunny but chilly day at FOPA.

Boone was cruising 5-1 entering the bottom of the 7th but HC tied it up on a daring baserunning play. Bases loaded and a flare is hit down the RF line. Hermann girl is coming hard all the way from first. Looked like she was going to be out at the plate but she threw a Jackie Robinson hook slide and avoided the tag to tie it up.

Erika Stein knocked in the game-winner for Boone with a 2-RBi double that went over the CF's head.

Jackson (7th grader) pitched for Boone and pitched pretty well. Girl throws strikes.

HC pitcher did well. Not a lot of help from her D. HC had 2 starters out for Spring Break so the D was weaker than normal.

Moran showed why she is one of the best , if not THE, the best hitter in NKY. Had there been fences she probably ends up with 2 bombs. Instead she has 2 triples.

Good to meet JMU31.

Not a bad showing by a team that only practices for 90 minutes a week. :lol2:

Had no idea their pitcher was in the 7th grade. If she puts some work in she could be really good. I think she batted 2nd also and had a couple hits.

All in all not a bad day for HC, Bc didn't pitch there #1 until the last inning and both teams were missing players for different reasons. HC had some different girls get a couple hit which was nice to see.

It was nice to see some of the Boone girls that I have been reading about on here. Stein didn't have her best game but got the big hit when it counted. Dallas Knotts was spraying the ball all over the field, I believe she had 3 or 4 hits. Knotts only pitched one inning but I am guessing she is right up there as one of the top pitchers in the area.

Yes it sucks not to have fences, exp when coach P has his girls playing at 225 plus feet. Maddy and coach P have a friendly mini fued going on. Coach P loves to tell Maddy and I how she never does well against his teams. (and he is right) My only real comeback is that is bc he walked her 5 times in one game when she was 12 years old. All that being said I would love for Maddy to play for Andy and when he took the job I seriolsy considered trying to get in the Boone District so she could play there.

Boone should do well this year they always play a tough schedule. Their district tourny should be real tough. I am thinking this is the year that Boone breaks through.

Side note, HC's is getting the old Bowman field off Locus Pike. The coaches have been working hard to build dugouts and putting up a fences so looks like the girls will have their own home field by sometime next week. Really nice job by them to get this down. It can only help a program by having their own field.

Nice getting to talk briefly with Clyde also. Getting to meet legends like Lawnboy and Clyde is cool!!

What players for Boone & HC were missing in this game?

Moran was very impressive! In her last at bat she faced Knotts and pulled a fastball foul that most hitters would've been late on. By far, the best hitter Boone's faced thus far!

Lets be honest now, things get a bit blown out of proportion on here. We were only at 224 feet.

What players for Boone & HC were missing in this game?

HC has there starting second baseman and 1st baseman on spring break. BC has the injury to one of their pitcher's who is out for the season and I believe they have a couple other girls banged up but don't know their names.

You very well could be right, I didn't walk it off. Let's just say they were played deeper than usual or if we played at BC they may have been in the parking lot.

JMU31, I am crediting you with my first laugh of the day!

Thank you, I think that should earn me a pass on my next stupid post then.

Let's not get carried away...

Moran is the best player in the region. She never gets many good pitches to hit because hc has nobody to help her out..
