Last night new Boone County Coach Jeff Griffith visited the school...

and spoke to everyone.

All I can say is wow, I am so excited about this football season for Boone County. Coach Griffith said all the "right" things in my opinion and the feedback from every person I talked to that attended the meeting was ultra positive.

Additionally, Coach Griffith's son, Owen, is an impressive young man. He was extremely polite and respectful but most of all he knows his football.

Boone County Principal Mark Raleigh also did a nice job explaining the process and why they chose Coach Griffith and Boone AD Jon Smith gave Coach Griffith's wife a bouquet of flowers which was very thoughtful.

A+ all the way around!

Guru, How was the parents response? Do they as a hole seem to buy in? See any direct issues the Coach may have with the parents as a whole?

I talked to several parents, all positive. If there were any negative vibes no one shared them with me.

On top of all that, you would have to meet Coach Griffith, he is one of those guys that it would be almost impossible not to like.

I hear most folks from the BG area are just like that.:thumb:

I told you guys that he was the right fit and he would do it right. Coach Griff is a class act and will get things done. Give it some time. HE's not a magician, although he is a GREAT COACH!

Yes:

Spring practice starts next Thursday.

The coaching staff will start with four familiar faces (I assume current Boone assistants) along with Coach Griffith. More coaches are in the works including an OC but nothing solid yet.

On program changes, just be open to change and work hard.

On transition, pretty much the same, be open while everyone gets to know each other, the terminology, etc.

On why Boone County, this is my opinion from taking the whole night in but in MY OPINION Coach Griffith believes he can win a state championship at Boone.

Sounds like Boone got it right. Would love to see BC succeed! Good luck to the new coach and the Boone community!

If you look at Coach Griff he looks like Will Muschamp

How was the turnout at the meeting? I assume it was a publicized event to the Boone Co. students and community.

I don't know how much it was publicized but I thought we had a strong turnout.

What explanation did the principal give for hiring him?

These are my words Clyde and in short that winning is important but it is his responsibility to choose a coach that is a great teacher and role model to the student athletes first. Additionally, he wanted someone that was personable, dynamic, and would reach out to the community and he believes he satisfied all those requirements with Coach Griffith.

I have to say I think the powers that be did a great job choosing Coach Griffith and I talked to the Principal last night and told him just that.

Since Kyle meets all of those requirements that tells me what I already knew. He was tainted by being part of the Thompson regime.

I have a lot of respect for Coach Niederman and he was really good to my son but he and Coach Griffith have much different personalities.

With that said, the current coaches probably were "tainted" a little. The overall feeling/opinion was that Boone needed a fresh perspective from someone outside of NKY.

Finally, some team will be damn lucky to get Coach Niederman on their staff.
