I teach AP US History. I don't know why anyone would sit through an entire AP class, and then not take the exam. Heck, some, like mine are worth 6 college hours if you pass the exam.

^ One of the ones my son did real well on (scored a 5). Took it in the 11th grade and probably did better than the AP classes he took as a senior.

Better take the exam, who is to say those who declare a major wont change their mind and do something else. I hate how colleges or teachers try to get kids to declare early. Most kids don't know what they want to do and most change their mind a few times until they figure out what and who they are in college.

 

Take the test.

As a teacher I say take them. They'll count for something. You have to have so many prerequisites and electives anyway. As mentioned earlier you won't find as good a deal anywhere.

Take it. It's relatively cheap and you never know when you might change your mind and wish that you had those three hours. I have a student that may earn 8 hours at UK by getting a 4 or 5 on his AP Chem exam.

Take the exams. It's a no brainer.

I agree take the exams. My daughter took AP and Dual enrollment classes and after her 1st semester of college she had enough hours that she was a sophomore. Especially when her major was a 5 year degree. She's way ahead of the game
