I believe he called for a final statement from each of the Senators before recessing until tomorrow.

Well...he said he was going to. Maybe not, though. He apparently opened his filibuster with some quotes from Alice In Wonderland though.

This is one issue I agree with Paul 100%. A) Yeah, we have a court system to try these people, and B) I do not want to get caught up in a drone strike!!!! The latter is seeming like an actual possibility if this comes true. I think this is definitely more than a head-scratching move by the Dems, but Paul seems to be extremely adamant about this issue and for good reason!

Paul rejected Reid's request. So Reid said he was going home for the night. I don't know how long Paul has to talk for now until session is over.

If you're a lifelong partisan, what you're seeing is another Republican attempt to hold up a Democratic nominee.

 

I'm not saying I sympathize with that particular viewpoint, but it's there.

I don't really see as #2 being troubling at all because #1 is absolutely true. It's something that definitely needs to be addressed before someone gets put into the position to initiate these drone strike within the US. I think the Dems are trying to say "yes we will do it" without saying it because they will catch a lot of grief from everyone IMO.

Someone made a comment on FB. I found it humorous but shows how ridiculous that award was.

My random thoughts:

 

1) I'm 100% with Rand Paul on getting the answers to the drone issue.

2) I don't agree very often with Rand Paul, but he's slowly earning my begrudging respect for consistency, and willingness to do the unpopular thing.

3) I don't like him at all, and would absolutely NEVER vote for him, but I hold him in higher regard than Mitch McConnell these days.

4) The combination of all of the above has me feeling very disquited.

There were 3 'incidents' of breach about 1 month apart - January, February and March. Supposedly 3 contractors were involved. 2 were fired, the one that worked for John Brennan's company was only reprimanded. Initial reports indicated Obama's records were the target. Later reports indicated all candidates were involved.

 

There are other implications - PM if interested.

C-Span 2 can be tedious at times but it is valuable to have the ability to dial in on special occasions such as the filibuster. I'm not a Rand Paul supporter but it is great to see the process.

 

Robert Dornan's special orders speeches were entertaining when President Clinton was in office.

I am in favor of having the government explain the circumstances under which the United States America would authorize lethal drone strikes against American citizens on American soil. (I wish the heck the Senate would have shown the same level of skepticsm before they allowed Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc. to bamboozle us into the 2nd Gulf War.)
