Ranking the State Tournament Teams

Featured Replies

I'd go with the following after what I've seen:

1. Ballard

2. Madison Central

3. Holmes

4. Montgomery Co

5. Hoptown

6. John Hardin

7. Knott Co Central

8. Graves Co

Ballard is clear favorite, IMO, in final 4 but had Holmes won yesterday I think they would've given Ballard all they wanted, and more. Not much difference between Holmes, Madison Central, and Montgomery Co but I do think Holmes and Mad Cen are a little better than MoCo.

With Ballard , I feel they play to their competition. I am still waiting for the Ballard team that I have heard so much about this year.

I agree with this. If Snider, Martin and Holland all play to their capabilities, it will take a tremendous effort to beat the Bruins. I don't think thye've done that yet in the tourney.

I think we have 4 of the top 6 teams in the state left in the semifinals. It seems like their is usually at least one weaker team, but this year looks great.

How in the world do you possible come up with Holmes is better than MOCO? The Indians went further in the tournament and they spanked Cov Cath who beat Holmes! The facts are the facts!

I'm not going to make a statement on who is better, but a big part of how far a team goes is the draw. Holmes lost in overtime to the eventual state champion. Do you believe Holmes would have fallen short of where Montgomery County made it with the same draw and vice versa?

Also, Holmes did beat CovCath two out of three times they played, including beating them by a point more 11 days before Montgomery County beat them.

I say these things as someone that was suitably impressed with Montgomery County.

Warren Central and John Hardin must be chopped liver?

I said no such thing. You might get from my name that I'm not exactly into slamming Warren Central.

My question was do you believe Holmes would not have beaten Warren Central and John Hardin? Do you believe Montgomery County would have beaten Madison Central? How far a team advanced is not black and white. I feel pretty strongly that Warren Central is better than Graves County. Is Graves County better because they drew Ohio County and won their first game while Warren Central drew Montgomery County and lost? That's one of the reasons I have a problem with the way all tournament teams are conducted in the Sweet 16 because if you lose in the first round, you automatically are ineligible to have any players on the team.
