10th Region Boys Tournament pays up to $5000 (plus milage) to each participating team, regardless of duration of stay. Anything above $5000 gets split equally among each school in the region.

 

The last time the 10th Region tournament was played at the Mason County Fieldhouse (2011), each participating team received $5000, plus each team in the region received $800, bringing the total to the participating schools to $5,800 each.

 

According to the documentation above, last year with the 10th Region Tournament held at Montgomery County High School, each participating school received $2,638.73 plus milage.

It seems to me the argument against seeding. This is a 'rich get richer' scheme.

 

Not saying this is always the case, but it's a lot easier for these teams that get to region to have money for summer camps, travel games the following season, etc. Those things make teams better. Some teams that don't get to region maybe don't have that opportunity, so they don't get to grow their players talents like the region's team's do. And the following year the same team's go back to region. And it turns into a vicious cycle.

 

I know some will not agree, but just one perspective...

In the 9th region, it looks like pre BOKC that only the teams that made the region were paid (last time was 2008 at Conner). Now, all teams that have a boy/girl team in the districts at least get $1,000. Then if you make regional you work your way up on the payscale.
