Lexington Catholic 61 Scott County 56 OT

Jack Whitman finished with 21 and Tanner Johnson had 18 for LexCath.

Sounds like that was a good game from start to finish.

Scott Co. missed some close ones that would have altered the course of the game. That poor Haddix kid could not buy a basket all night. The three that won the game by Catholic was a true bomb that left my jaw on the floor.

Don't let OT fool you. I watched online and the shooting looked pretty lousy... especially for Scott County. They couldn't buy a bucket on numerous attempts. Shooting percentage for the game must be just awful.

Congrats Lexington Catholic

It seem that the basket on the east end of the gym had a lid on it. Neither team hit well on that end. Great game, Huge crowd. Was disappointed in the student section for Scott Co ....very small compared to the other 3 teams there tonight.

The key for Catholic in this one was they kept attacking SC. They didn't let the Cards make a run and take the momentum and the Knights made all the plays in OT.

Lexington Catholic's Jack Whitman had an easy look at the basket. The 6-foot-9 senior had 21 points and 12 rebounds.

RICHMOND — Unrated and loving it.

That's the Lexington Catholic boys' basketball team, which you won't find in Dave Cantrall's top 25 but you will find in the 11th Region finals.

The Knights knocked off No. 10 Scott County 61-56 in overtime in the region semifinals in front of more than 4,000 fans in Eastern Kentucky University's McBrayer Arena on Friday night.

"Do do me a favor and keep us out of that poll. We love being unranked and playing the underdog role," a giddy Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman said after his team avenged an 11-point loss to Scott County three weeks ago.

"It definitely feels great to beat them now. I love this atmosphere," Knights senior Jack Whitman said.

The Knights advance to Saturday night's finals against No. 3 Madison Central.

The 6-foot-9 Whitman led the winners with 21 points and 12 rebounds.

While he was Mr. Inside for the Knights, Tanner Johnson was Mr. Outside.

The 6-5 sophomore sat out the first round of the region with a bad ankle, but he looked fine against Scott County. Johnson had seven points in the first three minutes, and wound up hitting four three-pointers on his way to 18 points. He also had six rebounds.

Maybe it's the high standard Scott County basketball has set over the last 10 years or maybe I just didn't see them enough this year. Regardless, I never thought they were a legit contender.

Again, might not be fair but...not surprised LexCath pulled it out.

This didn't surprise me, either. I wil be surprised if they win tonight, though. Madison Central is just so athletic and has more firepower. MC by 8-12 tonight.

Me neither. (says the guy who said LexCath was good enough to be one of the top 20 teams in the state even though they didn't beat a short handed Moeller team.)

When was Moe short-handed? You're thinking of Winton Woods. Moe , still in the OH tourney, was a full strength.

Moeller was at full strength when CovCath beat them? Could have sworn they were missing a player or two.

Paging gametime.........

Trust me. Full strength. Winton Woods had their best player and another kid out.
