I think most people would agree that Campbell and Brossart should have been in the Regionals, but because it was a random draw for districts, last year that didn't happen.

I agree, throughout the regular season, Brossart and Campbell were the best teams, but the fact that Pendleton had the Camels down by 1 in the 7th inning at Campbell County in the District Finals is pretty impressive, and definetly means that the team had improved a lot throughout the year.

Lots of difference between Freshman and JV championships in the 9th and Varsity District and Regional appearances in the 10th.

 

 

Agreed. Also maybe 3 tops 4 if they are pitching players off that team will see a lot of playing time. They have a lot of seniors last year that got a lot of experience on a Scott team that over achieved and made the 9th region tournament. Scott will be dangerous the next two years.

Quite true Soda--Simply trying to make the point that they've had a top program for several years now, and will be a worthy competitor now that they are members of the 37th and the 10th!! BTW--9th region baseball is pretty good!!

Watch out for Pendleton County this year, they have basically everything back from last year. In case you all forgot, the Wildcats should have beaten Cambell in the District Finals, and Harrison in the first round of region. In both games they lost in the last at bat.

Oh, I agree with you BG the 37th will be a much tougher district year in and year out with Scott being in it. But lets not forget, Pendleton Co. won the 38th its fair share of the times as well so it wasn't a cakewalk for the Camels or for when Brossart won it the last time in 99'

Replacing Verax will be an impossible thing to try to do. Joey was a class kid and the team leader, but Coach Howard will have his kids playing well by the end of the season. His tournament achievements in his two years at Pendleton Co. show he gets all he can out of his kids and the talent he has.

Verax was definetly the Wildcats' best hitter and pitcher, but last years team was very young, and very competitive. Junior pitchers Dustin Yelton and Kris Fields showed signs of being execellent pitchers last year, and you add that with 5 solid seniors, the 10th region needs to pay attention to Pendleton.

I was just goin by there top 4. Scott beat both teams pretty handly last year. If there is more teams, insight me, thats why i posted this.

Scott was shutout until the sixth inning until a bloop single that the second baseman called then pulled up and let it fall in front of the right fielder cost them. And the Camels had several hard hit balls hit right at people,but that is baseball. To say Scott beat them handily is way off. It very easily could have been the Camels handily. This year will be fun though with Scott in the 10th.

It will be hard to put Harrison County as a clear #1 after losing their top 5 pitchers and 6 or 7 starters from last years team (7 Seniors signed to play college baseball and 5 are still playing). By the time the dust settles in May though I would expect them to be battling for the chance to represent the 10th Region in the Semi-State. Pendleton County did have Harrison on the ropes in the opening game of the Region last year with a 1 run lead, two outs in the bottom of the 7th, and nobody on base. Can they overcome the mental aspect of such a heartwrenching loss? It should be a very exciiting 10th Region Tournament as always.

PC lost everything they had when Joe Verax left.

There are a lot of people talking about what happened last year. Last year doesn't matter. It's what you do in the off-season that matters. What have these teams/players done this past off-season to get better?

Will there be a deeper district than the 37th this year???

All 4 districts will have 2 teams in the Region so it doesn;t matter how deep it is. By the way who is in the 37th?

Yeah i would just like to add that i have seen some 10th teams compeat.. but never harrison. I just dont see how you think they will be good after losing there top 5 pitchers. More news on Scott... They only lost one pitcher who wasnt even the #1 pitcher but did shut out dixie in the district to go to regionals. and only lost 2 key players that were pretty consistent in the lineup with there SS and 1B. I believe if scott scores over 5 runs in alot of there games, they will end up with a W. The tenth will be loaded this year

Actually the 37th has five teams as did the old 38th. The people of the 37th wish it only had five teams like the rest of the districts in the 10th. The new 37th is Brossart, Calvary, Campbell County, Scott, and Silver Grove.
