But neither team was given an overall advantage by the refs. Ask the Collins fans what they thought of the refs....they will tell you they think they got screwed as well. I sat on the South side up by the band and still heard them voicing their displeasure repeatedly. Teams that are meant to advance take care of their business in tourney time.......ask Oldham County!!!

I agree with most of what you saw. It was equally bad both ways and I am not from either school. It about cost Collins also with the carry on wells that no one saw.

I listened to the internet broadcast of both games. The announcers consistently cited the officials for not signaling their calls. Missing calls is one thing. Officiating like you really want to be somewhere else is another! Did it seenm to those that were there that a lot of contact was let go?

It would seem the KHSAA should monitor the refs during thre regional games. Once they are "graded" and evaluated be invited back, retrained or black balled from post season officiating. you remove the coaching and place a non bias person in the stands to see first hand how this affects these athletes and the families that support them. IMO

I would say a lot of luck came into play for Oldham Co. Take the fact that Hannah Dossett is playing with an injury which has affected her movement and shooting, some players with illnesses and that gives you the ability to be able to triple team B Dossett every time she has the ball. Oldham shot a very high percentage last night and were able to take advantage of these instances, especially H Dossett's ability to rebound being hindered. I do agree that the referees have been bad all around this week as well. As I said, not sure OC was MEANT TO advance as you said,but they were able to benefit from GCs disadvantages.

Yes, it was bad on both sides, however, I would say that South accumulated more throughout the entire game- lots of touch fouls called on South that were not called on Collins who was way more physical than South. 3 starters for South were in foul trouble the entire game. Free throws were very one sided- 31 for Collins to only 15 for South. Add in the violation on the missed technical foul shot in the 2nd quarter, a block call that should have been a charge on Wells in the closing minutes of the game - it all adds up. The PSN game announcers(one a former official) were as shocked/confused at some of the calls, especially the one on Sedoris on a rebound where she had position.

 

In the end Collins,made their free throws and won the game. Wells did not let her team lose. Congrats.

The calls were bad on both sides. I guess you forgot about the two elbows to the faces of the Collins players, both were called as fouls on the Collins kids, and one fouled out on the play.

A player has a right to their space and when you play that physical things happen. South was pushed, shoved, and mugged the entire game and still fouled more according to the officials. There were numerous shove offs by Wells and the other Collins guards that were not called either. We could play this game all day about this or that, and our peceptions will never be quite the same. My point is that poor officiating had a huge influence on the outcome of this game. In the end, Collins adjusted better and South did not. Had the outcome come out in South's favor, I have a feeling you would be thinking the same.

These 6th Region Refs need to be held accountable. The championship game officating was a tragedy. Anderson did a great job pressuring SK, double teaming down by 9 and trying to send SK to the free throw line. The red headed official refused to call a foul against Anderson during the final 3 minutes. ANYONE would turn the ball over when double team and fouled with no recourse. NO WAY this is the best kentucky has for any basketball team working hard all year to be cheated. Again, not taking anything away from a great looking Anderson team. They really battled with SK but this is no way for either team to win or lose. IMO

AMEN! Sad that players do not deserve better officiating. Lack of respect for the girls game.

in fairness to the officials, I felt this game (the SO/Collins game) was the only game horribly officiated in the whole tournament (although I thought the SO/Collins game was probably the WORST I had seen all year).
