The are Brothers #2 Jashawn and #3 Jaquan......Jaquan is out with roled ankle suffered in the Beechwood game. There is NO KHSAA suspension.

Glad you mentioned him... I've been singing his praises all season long, but I don't think anyone believes me because of the schizophrenia of Newport. The kid is tough and would be tough on any team in region. The #2 Short kid is exceptional as well. Those two are the most consistent on the squad and they've had bright spots here and there from other contributors who've perhaps haven't been as consistent. ... But glad you got to see first hand what Pearson was all about. It would be sad if the season ended and he never got recognized. The kid is tough as nails.

My reply was to that. Just stating This season alone if Highlands and Newport played 10times Newport would win 9 maybe all 10 Highlands does not have enough to play with them. I am speaking of this season, Highlands is not a very good team

My post #3 that you reference is because the "not very good HHS team" has won 3 in a row - one a win over Scott - and played Holy Cross pretty well in Latonia. Newport is coming off a loss to a below average Bracken Co team.

 

 

If you think the Newport squad that just lost to Bracken would beat the HHS team that is coming off of 4 nice games, 9 out of 10 times, then ok, you have your opinion.

 

I would see the game as a toss up. Shame it won't happen.

Nice phrase but your wrong. Newport was missing there second leading scorer. As well as Bracken Co was the 4th game of the week. So I would say those kids were and are tried. Not to take away anything from those kids from Bracken Co apparnetly the won the game, hitting big shot after big shot. So hats off to them. Highlands Basketball program is on the decline compared to what it use to be. If Newport does the rite thing they may be the New number 2 team in the basketball district. As long as GG and DS are not refereeing the game.
