A few random thoughts...

This was a winnable game for Dixie. I recall them taking the lead late in the 3rd qtr and being down 1 at the end of the third.

The Dixie "sophs" looked somewhat timid in the first half offensively.

Daria hit some big shots (he needs to shoot more)

.

I thought that Dixie was actually up 1 sometime in the 4th?

I like Daria. I think he can be a nice player.

Good win for the Cov Cath

Good to see Jimmy Beal rocking his shades.

9 times out of 10 Jimmy Beal has the best attire in the building.

Some idiot gave you bad information. Dixie was up 1 with about a minute to go in the 3rd and it was tied with 6 minutes to go in the game.

Milligan brought toughness and a spark to the floor. I know he had some foul issues but would love to see him out there banging more.

Way too many open perimeter shots for CovCath...thankfully they missed most of them.

Ruthsatz was allowed to do pretty much whatever he wanted....there was no focus on shutting him down.

Fun game to watch...I hope the shooting percentages are reversed if they meet in the postseason.

Dixie was down 1 going into the 4th, and they were already in the bonus. They needed to continue attacking to get to the line. They seemed to settle for more jumpers in the 4th compared to the 3rd when they were attacking the basket.

The sophomore bigs need to play a lot stronger. They play way too timid on the offensive end. I thought the sophomore guards did OK considering the game at hand.

I love the toughness Milligan brings, but the kid couldn't play a whole quarter without fouling out. If he could harness that toughness, he'd be a much better player. I always liked the toughness he brought to the football field too.

The defense on Ruthsatz was very poor, and it wasn't really on the kids IMO. They sagged to the middle on him allowing open jumpers on a drive and dish. They should have stayed out on him the entire time. On the pick and rolls at the top, the defender always went under the pick, and the guy guarding the picker never flashed. It gave Ruthsatz an open jumper 80% of the time on those. IMO, he passed up a lot of open 3s. The only defender that would flash was Hatton, and CovCath stopped the pick and roll with his man. With Fredrick out, I would've concentrated a lot more of my defensive effort on Ruthsatz and forced the other kids to beat me.

Good to see Jimmy Beal rocking his shades.

Wonder if those kids have any idea what a good baseball and basketball player Jimmy was??

Dixie played nervous in the first half. Ruthsatz was easily the best player in this game. Dixie's bigs need to capitalize on their inside looks at a higher percentage. And I don't think CovCath can beat HC without Frederick.

When did he play?

When did he play?

He graduated in 1978. Came in on the freshman team with Dave Rechtin's group. I think it was Coach Listerman's first freshman squad at Cov. Cath.

That 78 team had like 6 lost's that year, half of them to Holmes.

Lost to a hot shooting Kurt Kool (sp) of Lloyd in regional semi's

Was also on Coach Krump's first CovCath team.

And I don't think CovCath can beat HC without Frederick.

Fredrick was not a factor in the first matchup with Holy Cross.

His back injury happened the day before in practice.

He scored zero points in that game and CCH controled the game from start to finish.

They will miss him but they have others who can pick up the slack.
