It's WHY every official should exit the floor as soon as the clock hits 0:00 and they see that no one at the scorer's table is saying there's a problem. Waiting only sets up problems.

Two real-world scenarios that could be bad because an official doesn't immediately put his/her head down and dash to the lockerroom.

 

1. Coach Hicks had already been T'd once in this game. If the official who stayed behind to confront him after the game T'd him again (he could) then Coach Hicks would have to miss the next 2 or 3 games.

2. Let's say Conner won by 1. Ref stays around because he/she thought Coach Hicks said something. They get into a verbal confrontation. Coach Hicks gets whacked. 2 shots for Scott. Scott makes both and now is the winner and not the loser.

Let me show some of my non knowledge of the game. Can a team shoot foul shots at this time ( after the clock strikes 0 and teams leaving the floor) and lose a game this way? Have never seen it happen at any level.

Certainly it is feasible that someone can be a "bad" basketball referee and a "good" football referee. I think the thought process was that his conduct was so unprofessional and over the top that Trosper doesn't want to be associated with that and deal with that level of incompetencey. Again, I didn't hear him say this so it is coming from a second source (who is very credible) so I do not want say this is 100% fact, but if you were at the game and were a coach I could see how you would not want that official anywhere near a game you were involved in.

Ref's were bad both ends. Scott coach yelled at his players all night .Conner coach yelled at ref's all night, i think the ref's know by now what their going to get when they do a Conner game. Bad time to get T'ed up close game at that point.Players on both teams played hard despite all the call's

So you are stating that the Scott Coach never yelled at the ref? If so you were watching a different game than I was. Both were giving the refs an earful.

I think it was a 4 point game heading to the 4th. Not a surprise. Conner's tough and physical D is a tough matchup for a team that isn't great offensively.
