I wasn't there, and I'm a Sawyer fan, but if Coach Goetz places an extra emphasis on stopping him they'll get gutted elsewhere.

I don't disagree with you, as there's no way you build your entire defensive game plan around stopping Pauly, but in the last two games against HC he's probably scored about 30-35 pts combined and in both cases IMO has been the difference in the outcome of the game. Goetz simply (or not so simply I guess) needs a defensive scheme that does not give him absolutely wide open looks virtually every time he touches the ball. He's proven twice now that he can knock down that shot. You wouldn't need a whole lot of fingers to count the number of shot attempts he had last night that I would consider to have been contested.

No one from CCH coaching staff is buying this game plan I'm sure. I mean, 7 threes by Campbell and 5/6 from 2? C'mon man. Anyone that thinks Campbell does not get 15-20 shots in the paint next time is dilusional.

Most shocking stat of the night was Campbell zero blocks.

Most of the times that cch drove inside, Campbell would stay on the ground with hands up leaning backwards. I'd think he will be more agressive in the districts.

He didn't get a lot of chances to block shots. Not many shot at or near the rim. I know this. He caused a few players who would normally go to the rim to shoot runners and floaters that they're not good at.

Campbell stat of ZERO blocks isn't surprising because no CCH player took the ball in the paint very much at all. I can only recall a few times they even penetrated all the way into Tony.

First play of the game. Tobler positioned Tony right under the rim and scored.

Tony's presence caused Bo Schuh to shoot a wild shot.

Then you would have loved watching Pauly last night. Nailed 12-15 footers all night long. He was the difference in the game IMO.

HC literally left him wide open. Every mid range jumper he took there wasn't a defender within 2 or 3 ft it seemed like.

HC defense, IMO, was abysmal. Wichman got 2 or 3 uncontested wide open lay ups late in the game as well.

Looks like Frederick only took 6 shots. Was it the "D" or the offense going to others. Appears Ruthsatz got his normal 20 and Pauly picked up teh slack. That's what good teams do

I don't think it was the D as I was not impressed with HC defense at all. All of Ruthsatz 3's were uncontested. If there is one person on CCH that you don't want taking uncontested shots, its Ruthsatz. Fred took one 3 that was at least 5 ft behind 3 point line. Some of his other shots seemed forced, never really got going or in rhythm.

Pauly was the difference in the game by far. His 16 is what won CCH the game.

I realize that the game is "meaningless" however I was surprised by the lack of rivalry or intensity on both teams. CCH jumped out to a huge lead but never extended the lead. 15 was the biggest lead and from that point on HC kept getting closer and closer.

Simply shocked Campbell took only 5 two point shots. Every time he touched the ball down low something good happened. HC fell in love with the 3. Campbell was 1-7. I know the kid can shoot the 3 but I mean 7 attempts to 5 two point attempts? I'm confused on that logic?

Obviously neither team wanted to "show" anything but I was not impressed by HC. Also, I wasn't impressed with CCH letting them hang around. I thought HC played terrible outside of C. Mclendon.

I know the game will be much different in districts, however, after seeing the play by both teams this late in the season against each other I would have to say Holmes and NCC become heavy favorites to win the 9th.

Give me a break people!

If you honestly think neither coach wanted to win this game, then you don't know either of them very well.

Both wanted to win, both had their teams prepared, both will prepare for the district game a tad different and I would be wiling to bet the house that each coach already in the locker room right after the game, has told/reminded his players, that look HC won the seeding game last time but CovCath won in the District, so (CovCath players you can't let up) (Holy Cross players don't get down, we will beat them next time).

Oh and if I were NCC, I wouldn't want to face either Holmes, CovCath or HC in that first round game.

BTW, had CovCath lost, like the HC did, the CovCath fans would be saying pretty much what the HC fans are saying now.

I know what the Colonels did in practice this morning and it had nothing to do with HC as that game is over with for now and they were getting ready for the Copper game on Tuesday!

And nut my friend, why would you want to penetrate towards your big guy, your best defensive player? I mean I think it smart to go away from the other teams strength and to top it off, if you see all the fouls that CovCath doesn't get in games, Clyde will tell you, it's because CovCath doesn't drive towards the basket much! :idunno:
