As much as I would like to say Ashland would win, I don't see it happening at BC. Owens gets 30+ and the Lions take this one.

The Lions don't usually play well as a team and they complain about the refs continually! This attitude has got to change if they want to be successful.

dont get carried away Blue Blazer, if Ashland can somehow scrape by with a 2 or 3 point win, they will be flying, 'Cats by 10" is not a realistic expectation, but you havnt got this team right all year :laugh:

Well I have been known to be off on some predictions. I did predict Russell over Ashland on preps even though we had a different deal. I should know by now if the Red Devils of Russell suit up # 24 (Kasey Tomcat Killer Clark) you got to give that :fire: his due!! then it is a whole knew ballgame! He is undefeated against Ashland in Football and Basketball as a Varsity starter! 6-0 Combined! Anyway Ashland beats Boyd Co. by 10 give or take a point , but the Tomcats are due and they do it in convincing fashion :dancingpa

Blue Blazer are you crazy. There is no way that Ashland will win by 10 pts. They have to take McDavid or Thomas to try and slow down Owens and it will take away from their scoring game. Think about trying to guard someone that pumps in 30 on a regular bases. I forgot you usually guarded the guy that scored about 2. Disregard that last statement. Trying to guard someone that is going to take a majority of the shots will take away from their offensive ability. I think that Ashland could win the ballgame, but not by 10. My prediction is BC by 8.

Oh yes, I complain about refs if they do a terrible job! But what I was saying is that after every loss you will hear BC players and fans complaining about the calls. Go back and check the posts of the Boyd losses this year and you will see what I mean. Then according to a Boyd Co. poster, Coach Pratt was supposed to have cast some blame on the refs in the Morgan Co. loss in the Daily Independent. Not to mention that I personally watched Boyd's players during the Morgan Co. game and was not impressed with the "innocent victim" attitude that they showed throughout the game. I will say that I only observed this out of about 3 players though. Owens never seemed to complain much during the Morgan Co. game, but apparently he has at other games from what I have heard.

 

The Boyd and Morgan game was the first time that I have seen Boyd play this year. I was impressed with Owens even though he didn't shoot very well. But the players need to quit whining over the refs during the game and focus on playing as a team. If they do that they will be much better. In fact, if they had been doing that the whole season, they may have a few more wins!

I have supported Boyd this year, and yes they have been successful, BUT they could have been more successful. There was a lot of whining on the bench by a few players during the Morgan Co. game and this was not productive for the team. Also, Owens is very good, but they Lions rely way too much on him. Boyd played a very good second half against Morgan and a lot of this was because of focus and teamwork! That is what they need to keep doing. If they do that they should be just fine in March.

Also, look at our record and how we have competed in the past few years, not too good, so we are happy to have Owens and will probably ride on his back for success.

 

I also want to point out that the addition of Moore, Sargent and Branham have been a huge addition to. Blanton is a quality player and Shannon is the man with the heart. So with that said, this is a good TEAM, so dont sell us too short. :thumb:

Owens cannot be stopped unless he stops himself through poor shot selection or foul trouble. However, Boyd appears to be weak at the other positions and not deep on the bench. That being said, I haven't seen anything from Ashland this year to make me think they will pull an upset at Boyd. Maybe if Flynn goes back to holding the ball...

No, if Ashland wins by even 1 pt, the headline will state " Ashland hammers Boyd", but if Boyd wins by a lot, it will read "Boyd squeaks by Ashland". :thumb:

Oh, I am not selling the Lions short at all! But there is room for improvement and that is the only point that I was trying to make! The Lions have I think 7 losses and they could have limited that to maybe 3 at most with a few adjustments. But who is complaining, the Lions are doing better than they have in years.

 

It is fine to rely on Owens, but what happens if he is cold, gets injured or in foul trouble? It may not matter when you're playing a bad team, but it sure will matter when you are in the tournments. Boyd's players need to suck it up and not complain so much and they need to play more as a team. This will get them further come tourney time. But whether they change or not, they are still a top 2 or 3 team in the 16th.
