Who is better than the senior they lost? And last year is last year. Kids mature, get stronger, play a very competitve AAU schedule, gain wt, lose wt, place more focus on another sport than in the past, injuries, addition by subtraction, There are a 1000 reasons why you can't compare to last year.

 

I would imagine there is no love because of SOS. Not saying they aren't a good team. Just my opinion they haven't received any love is because of the schedule.

Last Year's Argument VS. This Year's Argument = TOO BAD THEY DON'T SCHEDULE A REGULAR SEASON GAME

 

These are two strong 8th region programs, year in and year out. One more time, it's too bad they don't play every regular season. IMO it would be good for both teams, but that is not may call to make. So ... we'll just have to wait until region tourney week to see who's really the top dog.

Nothing against AC. It is just a lack of recognition (and respect) in our own region. There is a region 9 superiority complex here and there are a lot of folks who are about to have their bubbles burst!

My question is why is Mercy ranked so high at #2? Assumption handled them easily last night and they must have about five losses by now.

The consesus seems to be these are computer/mathematical polls, which I do not disagree but occasionally it seems that other factors must come into play other than schedules and win/losses.

You must know that Mercy was rocked with the loss of one of its star players in the post, so that contributed to Assumption "handled them easily". Mercy's chemistry is off because of the injured player, but they will get over it and move on. They were ranked high because they are good year in and year out and this year is no exception.

 

Assumption has stunk it up over the last few years and is rebuilding its program much like Sacred Heart. The LIT ratings factor in many things which is why Mercy is ranked high and other polls rate them high. Will they tumble a bit? Probably, but I wouldn't want to have to play them in the tourney. Would you?
