BGGreen Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 With the All "A" regionals starting, who is the favorite to cut down the nets in Richmond two Sundays from now?? State rankings say Owensboro Catholic (#6) and University Heights (#10) should be overwhelming favorites, but since both could meet in the second round, only one can advance to the finals. This tourney has certainly had it's share of upsets, so what's everyone think??
westsider Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 UHA is a little overranked at #10, but is still one of the favorites. The Blazers could have a tough time in the regional ... they could have to beat much-improved Fort Campbell and Trigg County on back-to-back nights.
NKYBOY1487 Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Owensboro Cath is the best All A school I have seen this year. Not very deep though. Good shooters. Good big man. Great Defensive Unit. They are the team to watch.
LCHS 1996 Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 I agree that Trigg Co., UHA, and Owensboro Cath. are the clear cut favorites.
BGGreen Posted January 23, 2006 Author Posted January 23, 2006 I agree that Trigg Co., UHA, and Owensboro Cath. are the clear cut favorites. It's a shame only one of these will make the final four!
UKMustangFan Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Bishop Brossart should be a team to reckon with this year, especially if they are on the other side of the bracket.
The Scribe Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 According to last week's Lit Ratings... 1. Owensboro Catholic (3rd) 85.7 2. University Heights (2nd) 82.9 3. Bishop Brossart (10th) 80.8 4. Lexington Christian (11th) 79.8 5. Beechwood (9th) 77.4 6. Covington Holy Cross (9th) 76.7 7. Trigg County (2nd) 76.5 8. Heath (1st) 75.5 9. Moore (7th) 74.7
BGGreen Posted January 23, 2006 Author Posted January 23, 2006 The winner of the 9th should make some noise!!
The Scribe Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Based on the Lit, here is what the brackets shape up as... Lexington Christian (11th) 79.8 UHA (2nd) 82.9 Moore (7th) 74.7 Owensboro Catholic (3rd) 85.7 Paintsville (15th) 69.2 Heath (1st) 75.5 Beechwood (9th) 77.4 Fairview (16th) 73.5 -- Fairview has already won the region Somerset (12th) 71.6 Shawnee (6th) 55.6 Bardstown (5th) 72.6 Gallatin County (8th) 54.3 Barbourville (13th) 72.8 Russellville (4th) 65.7 June Buchanan (14th) 70.7 Bishop Brossart (10th) 80.8
The Scribe Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 The bottom bracket is definately the place to be. Four of the top nine teams are in the top part of the top bracket.

I missed that, who'd they beat in the final?
The Scribe Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Fairview beat Menifee 63-60 in OT in one SF and Elliott County beat West Carter 66-53 in the other SF. Fairview took out Elliott County 78-48 in Saturday's title game.

sweet16 Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 According to last week's Lit Ratings... 8. Heath (1st) 75.5 9. Moore (7th) 74.7 Heath is no longer eligible for the All A. there enrollment is too high.
westsider Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Sweet 16 is correct about Heath. They would be a team to be reckoned with if eligible. St. Mary and Mayfield are the top two seeds in the regional tournament.
