Wrong wrong and wrong.

 

Wrong about what? Mike Brown doing a better job lately at putting a team together? A better job than other GM's lately? Hmmm I think I have plenty of things to back me up on that, which the key word being lately. However you choose to ignore those types of things, its what you do. I mean these teams with these GM's haven't been putting better teams together lately, and that is a fact and why we are seeing them get fired. So wrong how?

 

As for if the Bengals hire a GM. Shoot we see it with the Reds before Walt got here, people complaining about the bad decisions the GM's before him use to make. So you don't think people would complain if we don't get a good GM? Which you have made it clear that you think Mike Brown doesn't make any good decision, but yet I guess you think he would hire a good GM? Just because you have a GM means nothing, you have to have a good one at that. So as I said unless he ended up hiring a good one, he would just be another person for people to complain about and the fans in this city in sports have shown that they definitely would complain. So they would complain about the GM if he is not doing good, and then still complain at Mike Brown for hiring this bad GM. So which point was wrong? If he hired a good GM that did a good job, then yes people would then say see told you all we needed was a GM. However if the GM struggles, then how am I wrong?

3. Since MB took over this team has more losing seasons than winning seasons

4. Since MB took over this team has the longest drought in post season victories

 

Yet you think hiring a GM is a bad idea. You do know GM's can be fired don't you? You do understand MB won't fire himself don't you?

 

So worst case scenerio, MB hires a GM and we still don't win, how is that actually worse off than we are right now? Now you see if a GM we get is horrible he can be fired and another can be brought in. Just like a Coach. They can be fired and new ones can be hired.

 

Now something else you do not understand about a GM since you think MB is doing a fine job. You see GM position is a full time job, their entire work consists of building a winning team through draft, free agency etc. They do not have to involve themselves in other matters which would take their time away from their primary duties such as concession contracts, security, travel, media contracts etc. that the owner is responsible for. Mike Brown has other things to worry about, being the GM is not the job of an owner. Name me just 4 GM's that have been very succesful being a GM as well as another major role in the franchise like HC etc. You can't.

 

So if we go your route then we get 20 more years of a joke of a franchise.

Lewis will not get fired until the Bengals drop to another 5-11 or worse season. If the Bengals start out 3-11 and win their last two games to finish 5-11, Lewis still won't get fired because "the Bengals are showing a lot of improvement and promise". That has been the Mike Brown pattern.

You simply don't get it and I don't think you ever will.

There you go with your making things up, man you seriously are great at what you do on here. I guess you don't know how to present an argument unless you make up things about what someone says? I mean shoot me and SSC have had many disagreements over the last year, but at least he can bring things to the table that are true and relevent to what we are talking about. You on the other hand? Not even close, I am not sure why I even continue discussing things with you since you like to make things up. Just like here you say that I am all for them not hiring a GM and say that it is a bad idea? Please once again show me where I said that? I guarntee you won't be able to show me where I said that just like you haven't been able to show me any of the other things you like to make up. All I clearly said is that people act like hiring a GM would automatically make things better and that is not true at all. In fact we could even go down further than what we are. I mean people want a GM, but the guy hiring them is Mike Brown who people say make bad decisions. So yet the people who say this about Mike Brown trust him to hire a good GM? I am just pointing out how flawed people are when they say Mike Brown makes all these bad decisions, yet apparently trust him to hire a good GM. Which he is not big on firing people, so even if the GM does bad we may be stuck with him because he won't fire them. So that is why I find it funny when people act like hiring a GM is the definite answer when they also say Mike Brown is horrible.

 

Also once again you missed out on the key word, and I even put it out there for you what the key word is I said, which was lately. Which lately like the last 4 years the Bengals have made better decisions than a lot of teams who do have GM's. Yes we always can keep going back to how horrible he was for the majority of his time as owner. You act like that fact is lost upon me and it is not, and yes if I knew he would hire a good GM I would be all for that. However I don't let what happened in the past cloud me vision of what they are doing lately like you do. The past was horrible under Mike Brown, but guess what he is the owner and that is not changing so nothing wrong at seeing how they are doing some things right now and hope that they continue it, even though I know its a good chance they could screw it all up again. Nothing wrong in hoping they don't, but you can't seem to get past the thought that everyone is not like you and just not want to look at anything in a good light.

I really wish the Bengals did hire a GM four years ago so we could have seen what your opinion on the team would have been now if they had a GM. I think most people's opinion on the Bengals would be different right now if they had a GM the last 4 years but did the exact same thing. People would be saying look we hire a GM and we make the playoffs 3 times in the last 4 years, only 7 teams in the NFL have done that. Having a GM has made us into a consistent playoff team lately, having a GM has put together one of the most talented young teams in the NFL with a bright future. Yet since people hate Mike Brown so much, they think its me looking through my orange shaded glasses and don't realize their bias for hating Mike Brown has really effected their opinion on the Bengals. All we have to do is look at the other pro team in this town in the Reds. The Reds hire a good GM in Walt he puts a good young team together with a solid core, with a bright future and has been to the playoffs 2 times in the last 3 years but have yet to win a playoff series. They only won 4 of their total season series against teams with winning records last year, and one of the teams who they had a winning record in the regular season in San Fran ended up beating the Reds when it mattered most. Yet people talk about how bright the future is for the Reds, when they really are built the same as the Bengals right now and done basically the same as the Bengals. That shows me that if the Bengals had a GM starting 4 years ago the talk about the Bengals would be a lot like the Reds and optimistic. However since people hate Mike Brown so much, it doesn't allow them to see its the same with the Bengals right now. The bias of hating Mike Brown does play a big role in how they view the Bengals. This doesn't mean I forgot how bad Mike Brown is and how horrible the majority of the years have been, however I also don't let it cloud my vision for the here and now. The Reds and the Bengals both have bright futures.

If he hired a GM and after 4-5 years the team still sucked, then Mike Brown wouldn't be the one people would be pointing the finger to and he could simply fire him and hire a new one.

 

But because Mike Brown refuses to hire a GM and wants to continue in that capacity then who is it we should be pointing our fingers at when it comes to the teams failures? who is responsible for the players on the field? Who is responsible for the coaches on the field? 1 person and that is Mike Brown. If not Mike Brown then who do you suggest is at fault? Who do you think is in control of personnel from players to coaches? Please tell us so we can point blame to the proper person.

Walt Jockety has done more with the Reds in his short tenure here than Mike Brown has done being GM of the Bengals for over 20 years. Now you want to compare the reds organization to the Bengals and their GM's? lol. Now that is funny.

Top notch talent across the board but the Bengals don't have much talent? You make it sound like the Reds have all these all stars, when in reality they have a bunch of very solid players with only a couple of all stars and only one of them is consistently that and that is Votto. The Reds are very solid and do have a lot of the pieces needed and have a bright future and I know I am excited for this up coming season for them too because hopefully they can take that next step too and get a playoff series win. However until they do that they are in the same boat as the Bengals, very solid young talent with a couple of all stars, with the core of the team locked up, but just have yet to get over the hump either. I mean you proved my point right there, people hate Mike Brown so much that their bias can't let them see that. Yet for some reason if the Bengals had a GM for the last 4 years and established this exact same team with the exact same results people would be saying the samethings as they do about the Reds right now most likely. The hatred for Mike Brown which I can understand if people hate him, however that hatred also does create bias in an opinion too, just like I admit me being an opptimistic person creates bias in my opinion too, but it does work both ways.

Well I had this nice long post but decided to edit it to this smaller one for me, to try to stop this madness. Until you can show me where I said Dalton would end up being as good as Brees, until you show me where I said I wouldn't want a GM, then there is no reason to continue this. All I have said is its funny that people hate Mike Brown, hate the decisions he makes, but trust him to hire a good GM. This town would complain about the GM, and Mike Brown still and I don't know how you can argue that when people in this town complain about anyone and everything when things go wrong or people struggle. Half the core of the Reds team wouldn't be here if people got their way when people struggled.

 

Until you can show me where I said the things you have said, and not keeping up with the made up things you want to say that I said. Then we just need to agree to disagree on every topic with the Bengals and move on for mine and your sake and everyone else on here.
