Is Schaefer back to full strength?

 

Just my thoughts...I haven't seen her explosion and quickness return yet, like I've seen in the past. Sometimes when an ankle is still tender, it has a tendency to remind you that it's still there! I think she tweaked it again in practice yesterday, so I would guess she's not 100%, but she showed glimpses in the 4th qtr tonight that she might be getting close.

 

No excuses for tonight though. The Breds took it from us tonight!

She played well if she isn't. I would say yes. Does anyone have an injury update on Ava Abner. I hated seeing her hit the deck and get hurt.

 

 

Thanks for your concerns, Needless to say it made the gym go very quite. Good news is that Ava is fine, she went down late in the 3rd qtr and left the game and did not return. She was diagnosed with leg cramps.

 

Highlands coaches and trainers just taking precautions.

Yeah the earlier post stated that HHS would win by double figures. This is girls basketball and anyone can win on any given night. HHS is a very good team and play hard. Game plan worked for them as they tied the game late with a chance to win. They will meet again and it will be another Classic game. Great job by both teams! I have to say the game was very well officiated as well.

 

I'm really not one to complain about officials and I don't like even brining it up,but I actually felt they missed some very obvious calls tonight and really felt there were some late whistles on both sides. Maybe it was just me.

This was some of the best we've seen all season. There will always be a few calls missed but a good job overall.

I had zero issues with the officiating. They were non-existent at times and thats a good thing imo.

When the emphasis is put on the refs then it is not about the kids and the game but about them and this was not the case tonite.

NewCath was the better team tonite, no excuses from this TrueBird.

Just my opinion...I'm not talking about a few missed slaps or questionable calls, I'm talking about obvious traveling and ball handling calls that occur right in front of them. Trust me, by no means am I blaming the loss on the refs. What I'm talking about would have affected both sides. And I am typically not hard on the reds, but we've had a couple of those guys before and with 3 paid officials out there that go through extensive training, there are many calls that didn't happen in that game. I was trying to be nice in the first post, but I wanted to make sure to get the point across in this one that I'm not talking about the normal missed calls that you see in every game.

 

This is probably a separate conversation from this game thread. I'm looking at it as a neutral fan when I judge refs. So I don't want it to appear that I'm blaming the refs. We could have won by 20 and I would have the same feeling about the refs in that game. Just think with 3, they should not miss the very easy ones that they appear to be looking right at.

I was asked by a Highlands fan, who has a "lifetime" ban from this site......Are Highlands fans tired of 10 years of losing under Jamie Richey? What he said next I can't put on here or I'd get a lifetime ban.

Leah Schaefer is no where near 100% as there is simply no explosion in her first step which enables her to be defended quite easily. Highlands could have just as easily won this game as lost it and to be honest it really does not matter in the grand scheme of things.

It appears its okay at Highlands to not win Basketball Regional Championships. Im not saying Richey shouldnt be coaching but when you look at the boys/girls programs there is a lot to be desired, more so with the boys program.
