White has been at odds with the Rockets all season over how they have handled his anxiety disorder. He recently refused an assignment to the D-League, leading to a suspension on Sunday. White has reportedly told the Rockets that he will not show up for work unless the special agreement is signed by all parties, however, such an agreement is banned under the current collective bargaining agreement: According to the uniform player contract detailed in the CBA, "no amendments to the form of the Uniform Player Contract provided for by Section 1 of this Article shall be permitted," and if a team or player agree on such an amendment, "such Contract or subsequent amendment, as the case may be, shall be disapproved by the Commissioner, and consequently, rendered null and void." January 10, 201313 yr Classic example of using your disability as a crutch! Exactly. It's bad when you refuse to play unless total authority is given to a doctor in a sports setting because pretty much what he's wanting to do is have a doctor make the decision; Royce has to play 30+ minutes a night or else he will suffer such and such anxiety load and thus put himself in a harmful situation. I understand he needs help with his mental disorder, I have not went against Royce this whole time, and I hope he eventually gets straightened out and lives up to his talent. But, he has refused to see a specialist the team has provided and he is sticking to his guns on having a doctor have total control of decisions. Basketball people need to be in charge of basketball decisions and health professionals need to be in charge of health decisions. If these doctors say Royce is healthy enough to be with the team and play, it is then up to the staff what happens next. I think Royce wants to manipulate the situation and use his anxiety disorder to his advantage to gain more minutes, limit situations in which he is pulled from games, have an excuse for not going as hard in practices/training, etc. That is definitely taking it too far, but like I stated earlier in the thread, most people with mental disorders are narcissists and they cannot help it.
