Obama Executive Order for pay increase

Featured Replies

Gives Congress a raise as well as Federal Employees.

How can this be when teachers don't even get cost of living raises or police, etc. I guess the economy is good for the already wealthy when they don't worry about food/gas prices

If this were a huge raise I'd be upset. They have had a pay freeze since 2010 and none of the raises given were more than a 1% raise. I am not bothered by this. Not like I am with the new war on guns.

A lot of people in a lot of public service professions haven't had a raise since well before 2010.

Pay increases via EO?

Not sure I have ever heard of an EO being used for such a thing.

I am sure this was in the budge.......oops.....never mind.

A lot of people in the private sector have had no raise or taken pay cuts since 2009. And around 20 million have been laid-off during that time.

And what does that have to do with congress getting a raise? People in the private sector aren't paid with tax money are they?

They are when companies get tax breaks and credits to hire them.

Huge raise, any raise is too much for the already rich and powerful. Not only do they get paid that much, but think about how much more they make Witt their companies and behind the scenes.

Me for example, I have lost 40.00 a month on my check for the last two years. 480.00 is a lot of money for me and family. Not to mention price of goods go up all the time and I still lose money.

So yeah they got a big raise.

Members of congress can refuse this pay increase if they are that worried about spending. Let's see how many do.

For most workers it's 1/2 of 1% but given the environment I think they should have held off for better times.

Yeah, for you. When someone is making 174,000 and then after the raise they are making 174,900 that's peanuts.

I don't disagree there but I'm not bothered by it.

I expect that none will and if I were them I'd take it also.

Agreed. My only point was you can't blast Obama for this and that this isn't really that huge of a deal.
