March 20, 201313 yr Prep work is pretty much a non stop job in itself. Have to watch the games and follow the storylines every day to keep up the pace... I would imagine that's a lot harder than most people think.
March 20, 201313 yr As I told Skinner , the more guests and the less callers the better the show will be. I don't agree with this. Sports is for fans not so-called experts. Segments need to be short. For instance, if they are talking to an expert on Xavier basketball (for instance),that is great, but after 5 minutes you lose the UK and or UC listener. Yes, at the opposite, you get the yahoo fans on there to call in, but that is what the call screener is for. Say what you will, but the WLW format works well as demonstrated by their ratings. The experts provide the facts and the base, but the callers provide the fun, and the hosts should keep the party rolling along.
March 20, 201313 yr I haven't asked Rich but I am curious how much high school sports talk they plan to work in. I'd say high school football talk starting in August would get some attention. Hopefully very little high school sports discussion.

You just limit the UK and Wisconsin nutjobs.
March 20, 201313 yr I listened for just a bit and Skinner was busting on message boards... I realize all message boards/forums are not created equal but it is hypocritical when radio guys and newspaper guys bust on forums that they surf all the time for information. Furthermore, when they get good information they can use they almost never credit the forum.

Skinny and Gamble now have access to national media, information guys, who can speak in quick bits. As long as they don't OD on the NFL, like the ESPN crew, they will be fine, including more coverage of high school and college football.
