Beechwood 69 Bracken County 58

Featured Replies

Final from the Bracken County Holiday Classic.
Any stats RP?, surprised by this score. Thought BC would be in position to pull this out at the end

Did you find out if any of Beechwood's starters were freshman or 8th graders?

I am pretty sure Kyle Fieger (Fr) starts at PG..

Not sure on the freshmen deal.

Unofficially, Maus had 24 for Beechwood & Huff 19.

Bracken had four in double figures. Ray had 13 & both Crawfords 10. I believe Haight had 11 or 12. Florer had 9.

Grant Crawford picked up his 4th foul with Bracken County up 1 point early in the fourth quarter. When he came back in, just a couple of minutes later (if that), Beechwood was up 7. No sooner than he gets in, Grant picks up foul #5 & on a 3-point shot at that. Polar Bears did cut it to 60-54 at one point, but got no closer. They also left some points at the free throw line in the fourth, if I remember right.

I'm not saying Bracken would win if Crawford stays out of foul trouble, but the game was nip-and-tuck up until that point. He was leading the team like a good point guard should.

This is the second time I've watched my Polar Bears this year & both times they have played pretty good basketball for three quarters (Augusta was the other game). Then in the 4th quarter, about 2 minutes in, the wheels fall off.

I really, really like Bracken's effort & grittiness. They play so very hard & I love the kids for that. Unfortunately, they are undersized & just don't have the personnel to put enough points on the board. Defensively, I think they are a pretty good team. They just sorely lack scorers.

^ My apologies to young Mr. Marksberry for spelling his name wrong during the update thread. I even had the khsaa site open in an attempt to avoid making that mistake.

If Bracken has any post-season hopes this loss should cause them concern.

Ok. I was confused because at one point in the update thread you said

"eleventy-billion" points for Maus.

Congrats to Beechwood on the win. Great effort by the Polar Bears!

The team leader in foul trouble is a huge setback for the team. Strong effort by Crawford.

To my knowledge, Fieger is the only freshman on the varsity and there are no 8th graders. I am not sure about Fieger starting on a regular basis but he is in the rotation and gets a good amount of playing time.

It would take a draw of St. Pat in the District for the Bears to have a realistic shot of participating in the postseason.

 There was a lengthy stretch of action where it seemed like Maus scored every point.

Bracken had no answer for him in the paint.
