Who tried to check Jackson?

They had both Englemon and Chames on him, they did a nice job until the end. Jackson got most of his points in the last 12 minutes when Scott made their run. He was impressive tonight and Felts mades a couple of 3's in the 4th to keep them close.

The game was very physical with lots of fouls. Near the end it was hard to tell who was the better team because it got really physical. Holmes got out comfortably to 15 point lead from the beginning of the 2nd quarter until the last 2 minutes of the 3rd. The 'dogs Glover and Coston were hot with the 3's. Scott really checked Bolden and Palmer hard with agressive traps at half court. That left Coston 1 on one and he made them pay taking them to the hoop and making a three when they broke it.

It looked like it would stay that way and Jackson for Scott took over in the 4th. He drove to the hoop with Englemon out top on him. He beat him pretty consistently and Holmes did not help very well on him. The Eagles cut it to 3 with about 3-4 minutes left and Coston drained a 3 Holmes got some stops with some blocks and would have pulled it out a little further, but missed a bunch of Ft's down the stretch. Gotta give Scott credit, they hung in there and made it very interesting.

They play again in about a month. It should be another good one.

Combination of Hill, Chames, and Englemon. He had a good game.

Didn't do much against Chames but made some tough plays against Englemon and Hill.

Holmes improves to 12-0.

The Eagles came out and played with heart in the second half... Not since the teams that had Johnson and Pittman and Riley have I seen a Holmes team hit 3s like they did in the first half. Holmes made '7' 3's in the 1st half and only 'one' in the second. Difference came down to a couple tough calls against the Eagles, you could tell that this crew must not have worked together before or were just not good as a threesome! Holmes shot '20' free-throws in the 4th quarter to Scott's '3' free-throws and that is all I'll say about that!

Still going to be very tough to beat the Eagles in the 10th region!

To be fair... Holmes also took that amount of fts in the fourth because of Scott having no choice but to foul in final 230 because they were down.

It made me shake my head and laugh that the Scott fans were complaining about officiating until their team got back in the game.

Final foul count:

Holmes 18

Scott 23

I agree though that Scott is a tough team. They pressure better than any other team I've seen against Holmes.

Glover came out of nowhere the last two games.

The free throw differential was as Walter states. The Eagles had to start fouling in the last 2 minutes. Holmes did not make half of them. Scott's free throws (I think) were Jackson after a 2 point bucket 3 times. The officiating is what it is, happens all the time. It was not a factor in the game. The biggest factor that kept it close was the agressive trap of the Eagles. Palmer and Bolden were played very tough the whole game.

The 'dogs normally don't take a lot of 3's, but Glover and Coston were feeling it. If they shoot like that consistently, they will be tough to beat. This is the 1st time Coston has been a factor all season. Maybe he is finally working out the football kinks.

He was struggling with his shot early in the year. Coach pulled him in and basically told him to play some JV to get his confidence back and work on his shot and he has been playing well since.

Good to see former Bulldogs Ricardo Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, Demetrius Avery, and Todd Humphrey last night. Had a chance to talk to Ric after the game in the locker room and the other guys out on the floor as I was leaving.

Working on a piece about Holmes starting 12-0. Should have it posted the day after Christmas.
