BTW, one of the areas that I additionally want to see addressed is stiff penalties for irresponsible gun storage which allows for kids to have access to them.

 

It's not because the only people who will be unarmed in a "gun free zone" during an attack is the law abiding victims.

Which means nothing. Once they decided to enter a "gun free zone" heavily armed with intent to kill, they are no longer law abiding. Yet those who are are helpless.

Until they started shooting, in your scenario where any and all can be armed, they'd broken no law. In the future you envision, any one can have a gun anywhere. I have no idea what any other person's intent will be. Even now, I have no idea. Now you are putting me in the position of fearing everyone who teaches my kids, sits next to me in a movie theater or walking next to me at the mall.

Those that intend to do harm do not care about laws as to where he/she can have a gun, other than it seems as though they want to target "gun-free" zones so as to maximize their kill. Why do you instead only worry about someone "packing" for protection - theirs, yours and mine?

In a nutshell, I don't trust people who feel that they need to carry a gun to protect themselves. Regardless of whether I am armed or others are armed, those with ill intent will do their deed. Now you want me to feel safe amongst a group of people so nervous and looking for trouble that anything can cause them to draw guns? Keep in mind, I had a gun almost drawn on me in the middle of the day because I bumped into them exiting a bus. Nope....I will not go to public places knowing anyone in there could have a gun.

When did I say people should be allowed to carry any where any time? I didn't expect you to put words in my mouth, that's not like you.

And I've suggested armed police officers as an alternative. I've never said everyone should carry every where.

Do you trust the police? Because most carry a gun on and off duty.

 

No one says you have to be armed but its a lot harder for those with ill intent to "do their deed" if a law abiding citizen stops them in their tracks.

 

I carry a gun every day, every place I go. Very rarely am I nervous and I have never had to use it.

Not what I said and I feel like that's an entirely different argument.

 

There are certain places where carrying isn't allowed for good reason. One reason is because the police presence tends to be high in those areas.

Wow. I never said anyone was smarter or more practical. I was just trying to understand how you would feel safer in a place where only criminals had guns.
