Boone County 64 Conner 55

Featured Replies

Stanley has gotten much less attention the past 1 and 1/2 while fellow N Ky area sophomores Bolden, Kunstik, McDonald etc.. have received the bulk of the hype.

This kid was by far the best player in NKMSBL as a 7th grader and sat out with injury as an 8th grader. Played JV last year as a frosh for a senior dominated Boone team. Unlike the others listed, he had to sit and wait his turn.

Add in that Conner was miserable from the free throw line.

I'd be curious to see the stats.

Big boy McDonald for Boone is effective. Not sure why Conner couldn't figure out what his move was going to be though. He only has one.

6-19 from the line.

Stanley is a stud. His skill level and basketball IQ is incredible. When he was in middle school I think he dominated more because he was a lot bigger than the rest of the pack of sophs. He's a great player, but I think just like Niehaus at Dixie, he's not as dominate as he used to be because the rest of them caught up physically (or passed him in the case of McDonald).

Let me add my annual lament.

It's sad how small the crowd is for the Conner/Boone game.

(Old man mode forthcoming) In my day you had to get there early and many people had to sit up top at Conner. Now you can spread out a bit in the lower section and only the band is up top. Hebron's growth has caused a loss of community identity IMO.

Hebron's growth has nothing to do with the sparse crowds at Conner.

I disagree but am open to an alternative explanation.

More people sending their kids to CC , St. Henry and BW.

I was at the Conner/SK game and Hemmerich looked fine. What happened this game? Just lack of energy? Dead legs?

Conner

So Stanley and Mayberry are both sophomores. Looks like those two will be the future of the Rebels.

The kid is a strong player who is still developing his offensive game. He's really good at cutting and getting shots at the rim.

I'd like to see him develop a better 3 pt shot PLUS a pull up jumper. Too often last night he penetrated but dribbled to a point where he could not shoot instead of pulling up a big earlier for a short J.

Kid can play.

I should note that Conner led by 1 with 5:41 left in the game.
