Josh Cain's Dad, Jim Cain was on the 1984 team as well. I think he was a Captain and so was Josh.

Captains were Jim Cain, Tom Allen, Rob (Monk) Messmer, and Greg (Red) Kramer.

 

I have the district games, Jumper game, and State game on VHS.....somewhere.

Greg was the man at linebacker.

Think about his group of linebackers playing the 4-4.

 

Jeff Brady (NFL linebacker), Frank Jacobs (Notre Dame), Red Kramer (Graduated all-time leading NC in tackles), and Jim Cain. A lot of 3 and outs.

He was frustrated. He wasn't used to being treated so rudely. Teams in the southern part of the state let him run all over them. NC shut him down.

At the time the Jumpers were ranked #1 in the State and Fletcher had set records for rushing. I don't think they expected to get shut out at home. Revenge is best served cold.
