Any idea how many there are state wide?

 

That would be the 5 Star question.

Would it be possible for the closed enrollment schools to leave the KHSAA and form their own association? Would put schools competing here on a much more level playing field IMO.

 

It's great that kids go to open enrollment schools for academics, but it also brings a huge advantage on the playing field.

 

Closed enrollment districts should ban together and leave the KHSAA.

I think their are only about 3 or 4. I am going by memory when people would post on here about what districts are closed.

I'm getting confused. You're saying there are only 3 or 4 closed enrollment schools, but people are complaining about the big advantage open enrollment schools have? If almost every school is open enrollment, how is that an advantage?

I'm actually surprised there are any? I'm not trying to stir the pot, but what are the reasons a school/district closes their district doors? I could see over crowding, but what else...just have no experience with this. I'm sure their are plenty of reasons and I have to imagine some have nothing to do with sports.

Having one school in a system that serves a disproportionate number of heavy needs and/or economicly disadvantaged and/or transient students would be one reason.
