Right. They failed to produce a system that ends up with the 16 best teams in BCS bowls.

Who here thinks NIU had a better season than LSU? Who thinks NIU would beat LSU? How about UC? Do you think NIU beats UC? Heck, do you think NIU beats Vandy?

Again, Iowa 19 NIU 18.

Why yes, I do think NIU could have beaten UC and most likely Vandy.

NIU got the shot of because of their record and rankings. We shouldn't hate on them because of that or call them being there a joke.

So here is a question for you. How do you base keeping them out of a BCS bowl based upon the guidelines that are in place now? Send them to the BurgerBob.com Bowl just because they are Northern Illiniios?

I base it on their performance and who they performed against. I'd say the same for Kent State.

Harvard finished 8-2. BCS?

.

What would you base that on?

Right. They failed to produce a system that ends up with the 16 best teams in BCS bowls.

Again, Iowa 19 NIU 18.

Both the coaches poll and the media poll have NIU ranked 16th in the nation.

09/08/12 vs. Tennessee-Martin DeKalb, Ill. W, 35-7

09/15/12 at Army West Point, N.Y. W, 41-40

09/22/12 vs. Kansas DeKalb, Ill. W, 30-23

Marathon MAC Championship Game

11/30/12 vs. Kent State Detroit, Mich. (Ford Field)

You're telling me that's worthy of a BCS bid?

Both the coaches poll and the media poll have NIU ranked 16th in the nation.

I should have said best 8 since there are 4 BCS games.

How do you justify putting NIU in over UGA? LSU?Oregon? South Carolina?

I base it on their performance and who they performed against. I'd say the same for Kent State.

Harvard finished 8-2. BCS?

If Harvards BCS ranking puts them in the Top 16 (and had played a full 12 game schedule) - Heck Yeah. Bring on the Ivy League.

NIU Final Rankings in the Polls:

BCS: 15

AP:16

USA Today: 16

Cinncy is ranked at 34.

Just because NIU (or any other school) that is not in one of the major conferences doesn't mean they don't have a deserving chance at a BCS bowl.

I think we have morphed off point.

My beginning point is that NIU has had a great season going 12-1 and winning the MAC Championship. To go calling their pairing as a "joke" is unfair. They played their season within the BCS guidelines and now everyone is giving them hell over it. They progressed up the three major polls while others moved down. Just because they lost the first game of the season to Iowa is no reason to downgrade the rest of their season.

In order to preserve their corrupt, disgusting system, the establishment was forced into this rule. Then it worked exactly like it was supposed to do. I don't begrudge them at all.

There is no question the pairing is a joke. That's not NIU's fault. The system is still screwed up.

Look at this way. 8 teams make BCS games, correct?

NIU finished 15th. Even if you think they're the 15th best team in the country ( I do not) how can they be given a bid for one of the top 8 slots? Crazy.

Tell me what you think NIU's record is in a)Big East and b)SEC.

If you think they are 12-1 then , yes, they deserve one of the top 8 bids.
