This has been on back burners and building steam little by little over the last decade. It's funny how anyone who said anything about it was deemed an alarmist. Yet here we are and it is being discussed by our government, and powerful forces want it to happen.

Liberals take away economic freedoms and republicans have, recently, followed followed suit.

 

Republicans have been, for the past decade, terrible on civil rights. Liberals, starting with Obama, have stepped in line.

Failure to recognize same-sex marriage. Highly questionable immigration legislation. Failure to put forth any effort to address healthcare in any meaningful way. Failure to address poverty in any meaningful way.

It was positively awash in fear-inducing hyperbole. It was funny in the way it was presented. There may be a grain of truth to it somewhere, but to someone like me, it's exaggerated jibberish. I don't mind discussing issues. I won't engage in fear-mongering, though.

As to the topic at hand, this is quite possibly the worst idea I've ever heard. Why the hell should the government have any say in how I invest (the little) money they don't take from me?
