The new and improved Beechwood Tigers posted a win over Paris in round 2. Beechwood controlled this game from the start. I believe Paris had one first down in the first half and a total of 17 yards offense. Meanwhile the Tigers freshman QB Kyle Fieger proved last week was no fluke going 6-8, 168 yards and 3 TD passes in the first half. Here are the scoring plays for the Tigers.

First Quarter

6:13 Nussbaum 2 yard TD run, Sletto extra point 7-0

4:10 Nussbaum 5 yard TD run, Sletto XP 14-0

2:28 Fieger 53 yard TD pass to Lightner, XP no good, 20-0

Second Quarter

9:33 Safety, snap over punter's head out of end zone, 22-0

8:36 Fieger to Lightner, 45 yard TD pass, Sletto XP, 29-0

3:01 Nussbaum 1 yard TD run, Sletto XP, 36-0

1:54 Fieger to Nussbaum 21 yard TD pass, Sletto XP, 43-0

In the second half, Beechwood's starters watched the reserves.

Third Quarter

9:34 Stringer 15 yard TD run, German XP, 50-0

4:53 Combs fumble recovery TD 50 yards, German XP, 57-0

2:24 Paris - Stevens to Clark 29 yard TD pass, Williams 2 point run, 57-8

1:14 Plageman 80 yard kickoff return for TD, kick no good, 63-8

Fourth Quarter

38 seconds to go Paris Stevens 3 yard run, Stevens to Dumphord for 2 points, 63-16.

Beechwood is rolling

Congrats to the Tigers. See you guys next week.

It should be a great game next week. I think the Tigers are finally ready and I know the Panthers have been ready for this all year. Game time 7:30 at Beechwood.

I just hope we can make it a game longer than half.

I think it is going to be a whale of a contest between two fine teams, I cant wait!

I hope the Tigers have enough to get a win. The Panthers come into the game the favorite.

Eye of the Tiger, I see what you are saying on paper, but by NO means should frankfort be the favorite. Look at schedules, anyone playing Beechwoods schedule would be happy to have that record. Seems like Beechwood found another weapon to add to the arsenal. Watch out panthers the Tigers are on the prowl.

The Panthers are ranked #2 in the state and have been ranked higher than Beechwood almost all season. They have to be the favorite coming into this game.

As to tonight's game, Beechwood does seem to be peaking at the right time. The defense looked really good tonight, especially the pass defense. With Fieger adding the passing game to the offense, the Tigers are looking good. We'll find out if they are good enough next week.

Beechies will beat the Panthers by 2tds.........at least. Fieger helps bring another dimension to the Tiger attack.

I hope you are right but this year's Frankfort team is special. I have heard some say they expect them to win the title in 1A. They have a lot of talent and they are putting it together on the field. Fieger and the passing game have been a huge boost to the Tigers offense but his two starts have been against teams the Tigers were expected to beat handily. It will be a different test next week when the Panthers travel to Ft. Mitchell.

Has Combs been starting at DE?

Has Combs been starting at DE?

No, but he has been getting some reps.

So is BW a better overall team now that Fieger is at QB?

When is the last time we saw a team go deep in the playoffs with a qb who played the entire season at the frosh level? Crazy and impressive.

Yes. The Tigers actually have a passing game that looks pretty darn good with Fieger throwing it.
