First round of the 16th Region All A at Elliott County.

The game score is accurate, the following stats are very close estimates:

Elliott was led by freshmen Evan Faulkner with 26 and Jonathan Ferguson with 23, senior Nathan Lewis added 14 for the Lions.

Rose Hill was led by two 8th graders, Chad Jackson with 30 and Kyle Bair with 19, sophomore Michael Fuller added 14.

Hard fought game, Elliott led by 25 at the half, 54-29. Rose Hill adjusted and came out to outscore the Lions 52-36 in the second half, cutting to within six points before the final margin of nine.

I keep saying - this Elliott team can beat anyone in the 16th on any given night. They are proned to some really ugly games (see Bath County and Rowan County), but when they are clicking, they can play. The freshmen have an attitude that I haven't seen in Elliott County in a long time - they refuse to lose.

I think Rose Hill has turned some heads in this game. Elliott wanted to put them away, but they were not able to. Rose Hill will not quit.

Elliott Co. played a very good game. The Faulkners are great players, but I am convinced that Johathan Ferguson is the best player on that team. He bailed them out many times. These are two great teams that will be fun to watch for the next few years.

Ronald Weddington is the key to this Elliott Co. team. When he plays well they are tough. Look at last nights game. He was very active in the first half and Elliott build a big lead. In the second half he was in foul trouble and Rose Hill controlled the game. The Faulkners and Ferguson are excellent players but this team will go as far as Weddington allows them.

My hat is off to Tim Fraley. Down 28 in the early part of the third quarter but he kept coaching and fighting. Fortunately this team is taking on his personality.

Chad Jackson gave everyone a glimpse of the future. Imagine him when he is fully grown at around 6'6".

This was a terrific game for the Rose Hill team. Still very young and making a few mistakes, but the sky is the limit for this team in the next few years. Chad Jackson played an outstanding game that I believe should qualify for player of the week. In my opinion, this would have been a win for Rose Hill if they would have played a better first quarter. Let me stress again, IN MY OPINION! Hats off to the outstanding players of Elliott County. Came on VERY strong in the beginning and fought to the end. Congratulations to Elliott County players and its staff.

basketballmom, you are correct on all accounts. Rose Hill got off to a terrible start, missed some easy shots and before you know it, it was 12 -1. Chad flat out put his team on his back during stretches.

Euton played but seemingly couldn't make a shot. Rose Hill is extremely talented and only lacks experience. These two teams will be fun to watch over the next few years.

Did Dakota Euton not play in this game? Or did he just have an off not scoring?

Dakotah had a tough night. Give a lot of credit to the Ferguson kid from Elliott who did a nice job defensively.

Does anyone else think that Ferguson and the Faulkners from Elliott are going to be a force to be wreckoned with over the next few years?

Without a doubt

No question. BUT........... Jackson, Euton, Bair of Rose Hill cannot be taken lightly.

Best Freshman/8th grade range of talent in the 16th in many years.

You could put together a team of 10-12 guys just from the 16th at this age group and would roll over most other regions in Kentucky with comparable group. Many will play at the next level. Some at the highest level of collegiate basketball (Possibly).

I have not watched Rose Hill in person this year, but from what I see on here and from what people are saying at the games - they have some good young players.

If all holds true, we could be watching Rose Hill vs. Elliott County for the 16th Region championship in a few years - does that sound odd or what?
