Thanks for the info. Is there any chance that Lousiville will be asked to move to the SEC? I for one would like to see it then it wouldn't be a stop over for coaches. The big East is killing Louisville.

Not what I meant.....but I thought that I heard that if a state has a team in (ie....Kentucky with UK, South Carolina with USC, etc)....said school has a veto option to not let another school get in. I doubt UF would allow for FSU or Miami in.

It seems that the Louisville fans on here are a lot different than they were a few years ago when some were saying they would be very good for a long time. Very cocky was what I thought of when reading the comments. They had Bhrom(sp) who was a great QB and had a ton of talent. In the end they couldn't get it done. The dynasty they thought they were going to have didn't happen.

After going 8-0 now they are not so cocky anymore. They support the Cardinals like they should but not with the chest beating like before. I might be able to pull for them now. Right or wrong I got so turned off by how most on here acted I wouldn't pull for them after that. IMO I don't think they will ever be a threat every year to win a title because I think Louisville is a stepping stone for good coaches. With that said I wish the SEC would have asked Louisville to be a member instead of the two they got.

Louisville had been building something since the late 80s and the Schnellenberger hire; all the plans seemed to be working better than anyone could have guessed. In some cases, we were literally building: the move to build a new stadium near campus began under Ron Cooper and was finished in time for Louisville to join Conference USA. That was the beginning of a 10-year rise in which Louisville made a bowl in every season and seemed to have solid teams each year.

 

Then the Kragthorpe disaster caught us all by surprise.

 

I think we all learned something from that. At least most of us did. One bad hire can absolutely kill the momentum of a program. It was something we didn't expect. We certainly didn't expect things to get that dire that quickly. I think most people feel as though we're back moving in the right direction again but fans and hopefully the athletic department will be a little more cautious this time around about the ground on which that growth rests.

Not sure on the specifics, but I just assumed it was more of a gentleman's agreement to vote against expansion in how you are describing. The other school's would vote no and UK would not even have to vote.

Exactly. It offers nothing to the SEC it does not already have besides a better basketball program and host of other non-revenue sports. It is a football first conference and any decision is based upon it I would assume.

They are football first but can you imagine Louisville, Kentucky and Florida all in the same conference (basketball). It would have been good but not like the old big east good.
