If we are going to gives yeas/nays to ads as far as being promoted to an intelligent crowd then the ads would go away. There are plenty of people who will respond to the ad in question that are "in the know" at the same level as almost every other ad.

I'm not saying get rid of the ad, just that it's stupid and appeals to those that don't require substance.

 

I'm not sure if you're saying people in the know will respond negatively to such ads or that they're being reached in ads like this. If the latter, I disagree.

It's not a good ad (and I'm one who has missed the boat on Lena Dunham), which is why it's a web ad. That means the campaign isn't spending any money promoting it and is looking for free publicity, if anything at all. And they're getting. It also helps that there's not a better group to go on national TV and talk about sex than Republicans.

I think both sides have ads that target people that pay attention. Both have silly fluff ads like the one in the thread as well.

 

FWIW, this is the second campaign for Obama, I've yet to see an Obama ad that actually targets me, so I feel ya.

Yeah, about that....Gov Romney pushed me off the fence. As to this ad, I wouldn't have been the target audience. I find it to be a clever way to relate to first time voters who appreciate the use of the internet and a catchy hook. No problems with it.

C'mon...it's no worse than baseless vitriol laden ads. It is what it is. Personally, I'd rather see an ad like this than the traditional doom and gloom attack ad.

That's my point. It's baseless. It's also sophomoric. I don't like attack ads either, really. I'd prefer to hear a candidates vision without the attacks. Sadly, that's not what works.

Worse than some moronic attack ads or fluff ads, no worse than some. Nowhere near the same or good as ads that actually try to reach people.
