I feel very confident saying Dalton will never be as good as Brees is right now.

Which I agree with on this, he may never be as good as Brees. It is crazy for anyone to say a guy in his first or 2nd year will end up being as good as a hall of famer. However he is very similar to Brees in every single way. From their size, to arm strength, to being smart QB's who have to rely on timing and participation more than just having the strongest arm in the world. It took Brees 3 years before it started to click for him and the timing. Dalton still has to get it to click, and maybe it never will. However if it does his game does relate to Brees very well.

I want to be clear where I stand on Dalton even though nobody cares. I like Dalton. I think he has the potential to be pretty good. The Bengals really screwed him and AJ Green this offseason by not getting them a reliable number 2 option on the other side of the field. Hawkins is good enough for the slot, but they need a true number 2. His problem is he isn't going to be great. He needs to be great b/c they have an idiot owner and an idiot head coach. Great QB's can hide some or most of that. Good ones can't. It's not his fault his situation is terrible. He just isn't going to be elite enough to overcome it IMO.

Here is a case where I am not like you, and try to argue how I was right even though it shows other wise. Like how you want to say how they were a bad team last year, yet we are seeing this year how hard it is to be any team, even teams with bad QB's.

So here we go, I agree with you on this. I was wrong, I felt like Binns would do the job as the #2 and I was wrong. I think Marvin Jones has the potential to be a good #2 and was going to the #2 this past week but got the opening kickoff. The #2 receiver spot is definitely killing them right now, especially with how inconsistent Gresham is. So you are right and I was wrong when it came to that and I won't even try to argue it. Just like at this moment I was wrong about this team in general for this season. They are just a bad football team right now.

Aarod Rodgers lost to the Matt Cassell and the Chiefs last year. Rodgers lost to a rookie this year in the Colts. Who have Luck by still is a rookie and nothing more but average at best at this point. Patriots lost to a rookie QB in Seattle in Wilson, who's Seattles passing offense I believe ranks in the bottom 5 in the NFL in passing or something like that. Shoot the Pats lost to Kevin Kolb and the Cardinals this year. Guess what most of those teams these tops QB lost to had? Top defenses or at least played as top defenses that day. So it didn't matter that they were playing QB's who were not that good. They still couldn't get the wins. That gets in the whole debate we had all off season. We have seen it all year that even top teams are struggling beating teams with QB's who are rookies or just not good QB's. Its because it is not easy to go out every week and get it done in those games that they are suppose to win. Good teams do it, and the Bengals were a good team and did it last year. This year the year they are not, so they are not a good team. Pretty simple.

All of those QB's have beaten good QB's too. Dalton's best win is against Matt Hasselbeck.

But wait a minute I thought you argument was Dalton and the Bengals were still just a bad team last year and got lucky to play teams with no good QB's? Yes these teams with no good QB's and rookie QB's have shown that they can beat the top QB's in the NFL today. So maybe it isn't as easy to just go out and beat them like you keep trying to say by saying the Bengals were also a bad team last year. They were a good team last year, but the other teams in the playoffs were just better no that complicated. They were a good team last year and did what good teams do and made plays like good teams when needed too. This year they went back to finding ways to lose games, and it doesn't matter who it is against. Hence why I agree they are a bad team right now.

It is so frustrating watching a Marvin Lewis coached team. What is even more frustrating is that Marvin Lewis has some of the most job security in the NFL. Marvin's first challenge is inexplicable. He has absolutely no clue how to manage the clock and/or his timeouts. Obviously Marvin is not missing any tackles or dropping any passes or throwing any errant passes, but it Painfully obvious that he is in over his head as a head coach.

They weren't bad last year, but they certainly weren't good. They get a ton of credit for not losing to bad teams last year. It's very difficult to not lose any games you shouldn't lose. That's it though. They were also extremely lucky in who they faced. This year they aren't as lucky and they're losing games they should win.

So true. He's outcoached almost every game.

And we get two more years of it at least

They were a good team, shoot the only games they did lose were to playoff teams. So it took teams who also were good enough to make the playoffs to beat them. No other team showed that they could do that. Now did that show they were the weakest of the playoff teams, yes I agree. However that does not change they were good last year. This year though I agree up to this point in the season that they are just a bad team. Which changes like that happen from year to year in the NFL.

Completely agree. He is no doubt the worst coach in the NFL when it comes to game management. Which shows he must be good at other things to have gotten the team to actually overcome that some years. However game management is A HUGE part of the game, and can determine if a team wins or losses. Which we have seen plenty of games end up as losses because of it.

The worst good team and the best bad team are pretty much the same. I would argue they were bad jus because of the backup and 3rd string QB's they faced. All in all it doesn't matter b/c Dalton isn't that good so they aren't good this year

You are right we can continue to agree to disagree because we have had this argument all off season. However we both do agree on that they are a bad football team right now, and I also agree that Dalton hasn't played well. They have lost the last 3 games, and I put each one of those games on the offense. Defense while not great, has played well enough for them to win if the offense does anything in the last three games.
