October 13, 201214 yr OOOHHH now you've done it. You spoke badly about unions. Get ready to be taken to the woodshed. FWIW after being the proud owner of one GM product or another since 1987 I purchased a KIA in February. Need some company in there huh ?:sssh:

FWIW after being the proud owner of one GM product or another since 1987 I purchased a KIA in February. Asking a question about unions is a whole lot different from what comes from your posts.
October 13, 201214 yr Uh, and this present Administration has done a stellar job? Get serious. Uh, considering the circumstances, uh yeah. Ummm, I guess it could get worse. Uh, things were pretty bad in 2008. Uh, everyone knew it would get worse before it got better. Uh, if Romney wins I won't root for his failure like sooooooooooo many people do the present administration. Shoot, I may just vote for Romney now. Can't lose. If he doesn't fix it in four years I can blame Obama and if he does fix it in four years I can say I told you so. Hmmmmm, I may be on to something here.
October 13, 201214 yr Asking a question about unions is a whole lot different from what comes from your posts. What, that unions are corrupt obsolete organizations whose main function in modern times seems to be to do everything they can to get people elected who will throw favors their way. Is that the kind of thing your talking about? Just want to be clear.
October 13, 201214 yr Author Uh, considering the circumstances, uh yeah. Ummm, I guess it could get worse. Uh, things were pretty bad in 2008. Shoot, I may just vote for Romney now. Can't lose. If he doesn't fix it in four years I can blame Obama and if he does fix it in four years I can say I told you so. Hmmmmm, I may be on to something here. And it's not getting better. The problem is we have a mindset, as do Obama and Romney, that somehow they can fix the economy from the Executive Office. They can't. You have to let the market do its job. The one who allows the market to do it's job, without government interference, opposite of what the current administration does, will see a flux of growth. I don't have faith in neither of the two. Obama has dug us deeper into debt. Military spending is at an all time high and it won't go down with either candidate. Obama has proven himself to be a warhawk, Romney advocates for the same policies. U6, which is the unemployment rate that matters, is still around 15%. Gas is higher than it's ever been, government gets more money off that than the oil companies. I don't hear either candidates talk about lowering the gas tax. College is higher than it's ever been, in part because it's subsidized. GM is at a 16 billion dollar loss, that falls on the taxpayer. Obama's healthcare plan is full of taxes on middle income Americans. We're not better off. The "worse before it gets better" you referenced hasn't even hit us. BOTH parties are to blame. Until we quit living beyond our means, such is what we're doing, we will not see the economy grow. Unless of course the Fed creates another bubble -- which of course, is not good.

And I feel like it soon will be.
October 13, 201214 yr U6, which is the unemployment rate that matters, is still around 15%. Disagree. U6 has too many subjective measures to accurately tell us about unemployment. When you have to use language such as "marginally attached" it's too easy to misunderstand.
October 13, 201214 yr Author Disagree. U6 has too many subjective measures to accurately tell us about unemployment. When you have to use language such as "marginally attached" it's too easy to misunderstand. If you measure unemployment, measure all of the unemployed -- not just the unemployed and those that are actively looking for work. U3 figure does not include unemployed members of the workforce who are not actively looking for work; nor does it factor in workers with part-time jobs who are seeking full-time employment, or people who are underemployed. U3 has too much misinformation attached to it and is designed to keep perception a positive.
October 13, 201214 yr What, that unions are corrupt obsolete organizations whose main function in modern times seems to be to do everything they can to get people elected who will throw favors their way. Is that the kind of thing your talking about? Just want to be clear. Yeah because unions are the only organization that acts like that. Unions are THE ONLY organization IN ALL OF AMERICA doing what they can to get their choices elected to preserve their way of life or as you call it...favors. To quote the Romneyites on this board...... "Are you serious? Are you clueless?"
October 13, 201214 yr And people should have the choice of joining a union or not. Right To Work needs to be passed in Kentucky. And I feel like it soon will be. They have a choice. Don't apply. Plenty of jobs in my area that aren't unionized. Funny how everyone wants to come to Corning and join that unionized plant. Right to work is corporate greed run amok. There will be less jobs available with right to work. Too bad your blinders don't allow you to see otherwise.
October 13, 201214 yr Author I guess it's a matter of glass half full, or glass half empty. I'm a glass half full kinda gal. Or its a matter as to if you want your kids paying for the mistakes of businessmen who made poor choices in running a company. They are at a 16 billion dollar loss right now.
October 13, 201214 yr What Union have you had dealings with , not the one That I belong to . Jefferson County Teacher's Association and some clerk at a Kroger.

U3 has too much misinformation attached to it and is designed to keep perception a positive. The problem with U6 is it gives the impression that 15% of people are looking for work and can't find it or were working and lost their job and now can't find work. In reality, it includes those that "think" there are no jobs - not looking - just assuming they're incapable. It also includes those that are not now looking for various reasons - health, family, school, etc. It also includes those "working part-time for economic reasons." By rule that includes people working 35 hours per week who miss one hour of work for various reasons. Too many categories and situations that do not represent how it is presented.

OK, enough with the "uh", I shouldn't have started it. You vote your way, I'll vote mine. I just know how MY situation is under the current leadership and that is what I'll use to make my decision. But I do get tired of this he said he said crap that seems to suck us all into arguments. I usually try to stay out of this thread, don't know why I decided to visit. You're a good man PP.
