October 12, 201214 yr I don't think that this is some indication of the decay of society or anything like that, but I do think that considering this team is comprised of the combined student bodies of a public and a Catholic school, the combined logo's really well done and pretty harmless. They combined imagery from the two schools to create a united logo... that's pretty awesome if you ask me. I understand separation of Church and state. I understand it quite well. I don't understand why this particular thing bothers people. This seems like a weird situation with a public and private school having a football co-op. At least, it seems extremely unique to me. With that said, if such a co-op is justifiable, then the religious issue should end there. How is the team's logo more of an endorsement than a joint Catholic team?
October 17, 201214 yr I don't personally have a problem with it. But say a Sikh student joins the football team, can a Patka be added to the symbol? What about a Yamaka that the Jewish football player wants on the helmet? If public dollars are behind the team then it has to remain free of religious symbols. No, it doesn't, that is not the law. The school, which is a public combined with a private, chose not to use this symbol. However, that decision does not reflect a legal requirement that they do so.
October 26, 201213 yr Give those who disagree vouchers for the cost educating their children and let them build they own school. Public schools are anything but public anymore.

Uh thats not the disagreement . There are two schools one public one Catholic and the Catholic parents are educating their kids in a Catholic school .
December 7, 201213 yr Here you go again.....if people want their kids to wear a cross on their football helmet they are perfectly free to send their kid to a private school.May be a shock to those outside of the Golden Triangle, but every town or even county doesn't have a football playing private school as an option. And for the ones that do, it is far from "Perfectly Free". Poor people are Christians and Catholics too and all of them can't afford "Private Schools"
December 7, 201213 yr Bigger question is why hasn't Highlands, Cov Cath and NCC created a football Co-op like this?
