It could be Ryle playing Trinity. Seriously, Dixie is capable of upsetting anyone, including SK. In fact, Dixie could be a bit of a bad matchup for SK's defense with their mobile QB and passing/mis-direction offense. I don't think Dixie's defense can stop anyone enough to get wins but anything can happen.

No. The fifth place team will play at the champion of the Butler/PRP district. In an effort to be "fair" the powers that be have the 6A first round match-ups rotated every year. Trinity is looking at a first round match-up with GR Clark or Tates Creek depending on who finishes 4th in that district.

Not at all what I think. Scott County is head and shoulders better then anyone in NKY 6A. In fact in this match up I can easily see 3 NKY schools winning first round games. No one form NKY will beat Scott County for the regional championship.

 

Well if Scott Co is the tops in Lexington and that much better than any NKY team, I have to ask "What in the world has happened to all the 6A schools??" I saw Scott Co play earlier this year and they were very unimpressive! If that's it, besides Trinity and St X, are there just no athletes playing football anymore. Serious question.

I think you just don't realize how far above HHS is than even the 6A pack. Other than Trinity, St. X and Bowling Green, there is really nobody else in KY than can be competitive with HHS. I've said for a while that male student enrollment is a over rated parameter of the strength of a football program. I have been dismissed for making excuses for my program, but the results on the field this year strongly bear that out.

I agree. Not trying to compare them to HHS. But, if you know football and you watch them, they were more uninpressive than others we have blown out. I try to watch the other team to look for postitives when watching HHS games. Not being arrogent, but that's what I do in blow outs. I try to gage what level the team would be if they weren't playing HHS. I know that's not easy to do because they are playing HHS and they could be having a bad day on top of that, but they were not very good in my opinion. I don't think they even had a first down in the first half! They scored on a complete broken coverage in the D backfield. There was literally noone within 20 yards of the guy from the time he came off the line. They threw a 7 yard pass and he went completely untouched (because noone was guarding him) down the sidelines. And because HHS kicked off 5-6 times in the first half, they ran a kickoff back on a great effort from their player. Outside of that, I don't know if they had double figure yardage (meaning less than 10) in the first half. I'm not trying to kill Scott Co, I'm just saying that (in my opinion on that one day), if they are the best of the rest in 6A, KY football as a whole is in trouble and it's no wonder the big two go out of state whenever possible.

 

I know your theory about the male population, but Scott Co is a huge school full of athletes. There is no reason for them not to be at least pretty good. And any 6A school that has that many kids should be able to find and develop kids if they cared about football at all. And maybe that's the answer. Maybe there are only a few schools in KY that are willing to do what it takes to be good because the focus at other schools are on other sports.

 

It comes down to that it really just puzzles me how the entire state isnt' that good. Again, not trying to compare them to the top 5-6 teams in the state, just the rest of them. I would say T, X, HHS, Cov Cath, BG, John Hardin and maybe Central and Boyle and Danville. I may be missing someone, but that's it as far as I would consider "good".

We had some of these discussions over the summer. I think a lot of the differences stem from having access to and resources for outside training and coaching as well as simple travel logistics. Scott Co. is a very big school though. Only T and X have bigger male enrollments.

 

In some years, Beechwood, if they competed in NKy 6A, would be favored to win this District.
