Is it true they only have 17 girls total? Another long year for the Lady Jaguars. Conner will clean their clocks!

That's mature. And constructive....

You are right. I heard numbers were down this year. Hopefully not the quality. I don't think they will be as good as Conner. Good luck to these young ladies as I hope they work hard. Hopefully they will have a good season!

It is my hope that Cooper has a good season but I really don't see them being able to compete with Boone, Conner and Ryle regardless of who the coach is. They just don't have the talent of the 3 other schools that I mentioned from the 33rd District.

Sounds like the overall numbers are down, but I thought there were 3 girls from Cooper that were on the AAU National Championship team (Maniacci, Pittman, & Arnett)? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but if so, there's still some talent and they should have good chemistry between them since they've played together all summer.

At the Cooper player and parent meeting yesterday we did find out that they will be fielding at freshman/sophomore team. They will play a 14 or 15 game schedule. The freshman numbers were low and to field a team they needed to use a couple of the sophomores in the program to complete the roster. They will be competing against other freshman/sophomore teams during the course of their schedule.

So Budman, you seem to be in the know, are the Lady Jags going to be better this year? Can they compete with District 33?

I do think that they will be much more competitive this year. I had the chance to meet the new head coach the other day and he seems very excited about the opportunity that he has to coach these young ladies.

The new coach should be happy, he was given the keys to a pretty nice car/truck. Whether people want to acknoledge it or not, Coach Turner did a fabulous job at Cooper. The new coach is just playing out her hand. The new coach does seem very excited. Good luck to him and the Lady Jags!

Yes, the Lady Jags can compete in a weaker District 33. The other three teams are good, but so are the Lady Jags. Should be a fun year!

Who is the new coach, and who are the assistants?

Varsity Head- Coach Terwingler (sp?) from Ohio

Asst. Varsity- Lloyds old coach

JV- used to help with Cooper's boys

Freshmen- Coach Griffith (who should be higher up the list)

My apologies for misspelling Coach T's name.

I made a phone call and here are the names of the coaches:

Varsity- Josh Terwilliger

Var. Asst- Bill Tharp

JV- David Snider

Freshmen- Wayne Griffith

Good luck to these gentlemen!

Not sure that I believe that the coach is being handed the keys to a nice car. This coach is taking over a team that finished 9-22 last year and underachieved. He is taking over a team that is short on numbers and overall depth. He doesn't even have enough girls to field a true freshman team. Cooper girls are a combined 34 and 77 since inception and are still looking for their first district win.

The new coach is inheriting a group of high character young ladies that will work very hard for him.

I wish Coach Terwilliger and his staff the best. Would love to see Cooper have their first winning season and win their first district game. Good luck Jags!

The Lady Jags looked ready to roll at their scrimmage today. Both the Varsity and JV played well. I would say they were definitely the best team their. Good to see Coach Griffith getting after it on the sidelines today for the JV team. Coach Turner should be proud of how the girls played today. They are shaping into the team she was trying to mold and didn't have a chance to finish. The new coaching staff is doing a good job. We are Cooper!

It's good to hear that Coach Terwilliger and his staff is coaching up the girls. I know the girls will do their part as always. I hope the Lady Jags will get their first district varsity win in school history this season. Go Lady Jags.
