The Cooper Lady Jags will have their second scrimmage of the season tonight as they square off against Collins at Scott County High School. I don't know much about Collins but it looks like they had a pretty good season last year. Hopefully this scrimmage will shed some light on how improved the Lady Jags will be.

Grace Maniacci will not play tonight do to an injured ankle. Cooper will need her back as soon as possible. She is going to be a big part of what they do this season.

That should be a good scrimmage and test for Cooper. Although Collins is not considered on of the pre season top three from the 8th region, many seem to think they will be a suprise team this year. The player to watch is #34, Aliyah Wells...great athlete, fun to watch and hard to stop. Keep us posted on how Cooper does.

Cooper won the first half by 5 against the varsity group and tied the second half with mostly JV kids playing.

Cooper played very well and did some very good things. I think this team will continue to get better as the season continues.

Coach Terwilliger is doing a great job with these young ladies. They are not very deep but play very hard. This team is already light years ahead of where they were the previous two seasons. For the first time since my daughter has played at Cooper they actually seem to have a plan.

Good Luck Jags!

So they beat Collins? Wow. Good for them!

Budman, I have to say, your lack of respect for the former coaches is getting old. Coach Turner and family gave a lot to the program. As much as you don't want to admit it, but this years transition falls some to Coach Turners credit. Just like when a coach leaves to go to another school, the following year, the new coach is playing out the previous coaches hand. After that, it is on the new coaches to see what they have. I am not saying the new coaching staff isn't doing a good job, but Coach Turner doesn't deserve the constant lack of respect that people on here throw at her. Calling last year a "social club" and as you put it, not having a plan. Total lack of respect.

Good luck to the Lady Jags this year. They should have a great season. They would have either way. Whether Coach Turner was here or the new staff.

While I find this soap opera that is Cooper funny, you are off base. The new coach has done a great job. I have heard great things about what he is doing over there. The kids are happy and that is what is most important. They are having fun again. To say that Coach Turner should get the credit for this year is such a joke. If you want to talk about "respect", you are not showing any respect to the current coaching staff and players that are working hard for respect. I think this team could be a sleeper.

Yes, the Lady Jags can compete in a weaker District 33. The other three teams are good, but so are the Lady Jags. Should be a fun year!

No offense but I still think the 33rd District will be a 3 team race between Boone Cty, Conner and Ryle with Cooper on the outside looking in. Goog luck to the new Cooper coach and the Lady Jags.

We will see. The other teams are good, but I think District 33 is weaker than people are realizing. I hope my Lady Jags prove people wrong.

And 32, you don't know respect, so don't even try to jump into the conversation.

Thanks for the lecture coopsquad. You are entitled to your opinion and this forum is designed for you to share that opinion.

My opinions are not meant to judge what type of person the former coach was. I believe the previous coach and her family to be very good people. My opinions are about basketball and are not personal.

But my opinion remains the same. It was time for a change.

I think Conner would have to be a heavy favorite in the 33rd.

With all due respect to the past coach, she would not have been mentioned if it were not for Coopsquad. Stop bringing up the past and give credit where it belongs. To the girls. As 32 to mentioned the girls are the most important factor and they are having fun and playing well.

Get over it and move on.

I see what your saying. I don't mean to cause Coach Turner negative vibes. I have a lot of respect for her and her family. I will drop it. Good luck to my Lady Jags. Sending lots of love there way!

Don't know if I have ever read a more misinformed statement on transition from one coach to another? A new coach is installing not only a new system but trying to change a culture. Even in a winning program transition is difficult to say the least but to say a coach just is playing out the previous coaches hand is grossly misinformed. I have seen it at the high school and the collegiate level and nothing could be further from the truth.

It would be more accurate to state that a new staff gets a "honeymoon" type of year where wins and losses are are not as important as creating a winning environment and changing the culture in the lockerroom.

Great point 4. Players buying into a new coach's philosophy is the greatest sign of respect to the past coach. Knowing the girls and seeing how hard they are working I believe here will be good surprises ahead for this team.
