33rd District......Back In The Day

Featured Replies

We were talking at lunch yesterday about the 81 SK team and were trying to figure out who was in that district at that time. Much different now, but we thought it was a 7 team district, the largest in the state. We came up with 6 but could not figure out the 7th. Here's what we have:

Boone County

Simon Kenton

Walton-Verona

St. Henry

Lloyd Memorial

Conner

Who are we missing. We thought Dixie may have remained in the 34th. Who is it.

Darn good question. My guess is that it was Dixie.

It was Dixie. (Dixie then hosted the 33rd district the following year)

That is a bear of a district. You have to win 2 games just to get to the region!

Thanks Jim. Just couldn't remember.

I remember it well. Hard to believe they had a seven team district when some today have three teams.

Every district was a draw back then (no seeding) and there was one "bye" pill in the 33rd draw, which would allow one team in the district to get to the region with only one win.

District's looked much different then, and it was some work just to get to the regional, especially in the old 33rd.

I always felt the 33rd was bigger than most districts, even as late as 2004 (year I graduated) the 33rd had 6 teams:

Boone

Conner

Ryle

Simon Kenton

St. Henry

Heritage (granted they were never competition but they were still in there)
