Apparently you were there to watch Owens instead

of the game. He was not the last one in

the locker room,furthermore his attitude was

of a kid that wants to play and win- we call

them competitive. He did not pout on the bench,

he was cherring his team on. As for the finger

salute to the kids,that was for the sign

that said RAMEY ESTEP RECRUIT.These kids

get singled out,just like what you are doing

in this quote.Tell me you have never seen kids

play basketball or any sport and not get frustrated

or are competive? I see this on BC team from all the

kids as well from other schools. That makes them

a team. As for colleges, for the Owens kid there

are several D1 schools that want to recruit him.

By the way, I have been one of Owens' best fans this season and I wish him the best. I have personally mentioned his name to both Morehead State's Athletic Director Brian Hutchinson and Assistant Coach Allen Edwards. I didn't make a post to single anyone out, I just posted a summarization of what I watched.

 

I have news for you, if anyone on my high school team would have acted in the manner that Owens acted in this particular game, he would've probably been better off moving to another county to play. I appreciate that you have a passion for the game and for your team, but you need to realize that college coaches don't want a player that is going to cause problems.

Dont worry about everyones negative comments about Owens, he will do fine. The way I always looked at is was, if people are paying attention to him this much to critique every move he makes- then he must be the REAL DEAL. Either that or these people dont have a life. :thumb:

 

 

Anyone could go to any game in any County and pick a player out individually and find something negative about any of them, but that is not the proper thing to do and shouldnt be done, these are KIDS.

 

These are kids and if any of my kids ever flip the middle finger at anyone they will be punished and disciplined. In my opinion, Owens is the real deal. That wasn't a negative post about it - that was a post of what happened. Maybe some of what happened was negative. I would say that he is the best player I've seen in this part of the state in years and should at least receive some consideration for Mr. Basketball. And yes, whenever you lead the state of Kentucky in scoring, you will be under the microscope and every move you make will be noticed. Welcome to the world of being a high school superstar. That is why you carry yourself with dignity and be a leader. If you get out of line, that is why you have an adult coach.

Oh yeah, I feel like Owens is always playing against 7 players because the refs always call against him. He picks up questionable fouls, sketchy walk calls, and is always called for the charge if its close.

They are also getting him for palming it or carrying it a lot. When he isn't doing anymore than anyone else is.

still learning basketball,this is his first year of high school

Why did he move to Boyd County? It wasn't another player that did that, I was sitting in the front row with a friend and we both saw it. You make it sound like I'm against Owens or something - I have posted about 20 posts on here stating that he is the best player I've seen in 10 years. I enjoy watching him play and I feel like he can score 50 on any given night. I could just do without the other stuff - but hey, like you said, they're just kids.

That's what I wanted to hear you say. I'll be honest with you, I think he could play in the SEC if he continues to improve. Maybe UK should recruit him?!?

I have to agree with your post, it is tough for a kid with Owens expererience to deal with all he is going through, hopefully he will learn some life lessons at Boyd County from Coach Pratt and others that will serve him well past his basketball life

What do you mean the county? Elliott? Morgan? Greenup? Carter? There are many counties, I am unclear as to whom you are speaking of!
