Mesmer - should be ready for next weekend.

Jacoby - has been playing LB but not kicking. Not sure if he will return to kicking duties or if Kersey will have to keep kicking for remainder of season.

I think the lack of depth hurts Boyle more than anything else. People can talk about the coaching and play calling all they want. I can't doubt the coaches in good conscience because they are the ones with the team in practice every day. They are the ones dissecting film. They are the ones who know exactly what each player can do. The only questionable thing I saw from the staff was right before halftime when they pooch kicked the kickoff right after the scored to make it 14-6. I'd rather they have kicked it deep. It took LC 2 plays and 15 seconds to get to the Boyle 38 yard line and set up the Hail Mary that Letton caught and got concussed on. Tremendous throw and catch by Ryan and Letton. But back to lack of depth. By the beginning of the 4th quarter you could see a tired Boyle team take the field. In the 4th quarter it didn't take LC long to score at all when they had the ball. They had fresher players. I only saw 1 kid playing both ways for them. Boyle has 8. Boyle has 8 players playing both ways. With the exception of John Hardin in all of Boyle's losses they gave up big plays in the 4th quarter. Gassed. Period. It's not play calling. It's not the quarterback(who played a good game yesterday). They are too gassed to effectively play defense in the fourth quarter. Period.

Wasn't at the game so you would know better than I. But would your thoughts be true since Bolin was in when Boyle was leading and out when they fell behind? Sounds like with him, or without him it's a Boyle play from being a different outcome.

 

Like I said, you who were there would be better equipped to say.

One thing about Lexington Catholic and Bolin is it seems to take them a couple quarters to start playing. Even without him they came back and won in the second half. I'm just saying with Bolin they might have scored a couple more touchdowns. Boyle also had a lot of missed opportunities that could've blown the game open. Lexington Catholic needs to find a way to score early and play better in the first half.

I agree. Seems like LexCath has been at their best in the 4th quarter all season. Which is good but they have been average in the first half. Against a team like Highlands they need to play great all 4 quarters.

Completely different game for LexCath if Bolin is in there. We likely don't get a pick 6 to start the half. We also likely don't get that second interception either. Sure we didn't punch it in when we needed but LexCath couldn't run their complete offense without Bolin in there. Ryan is not Bolin and it was evident as soon as the 3rd quarter started. Both his interceptions were poor passes and poor decisions.

Ryan was 7-10-2 but also had the TD throw at the end of the half. If the Knights don't score there it's 14-6 rather than 14-12 at half and with the pick 6 it would have been 21-6 early in the 3rd Quarter. Sounds like the last play TD was perhaps the biggest factor as any in this game.

It would have been a matter of time. LC would have scored more if Bolin was in the game. LC had a ton of drops when Bolin was in the game and Ryan's pick 6 was the most ill advised pass I have seen in quite some time. He was in his own endzone and through it out of fear right to Seph Burke. Bolin wouldn't have done that. It was just a matter of time before the LC offense got rolling. Bolin's poor stats weren't his fault. LC won the game by using #28 running the ball. Not Ryan throwing the ball. Bolin threw more passes than Ryan and played less than Ryan. Also keep in mind that LC had two long runs called back. Our defense was tired. Dead legs.

Sounds like it was a hell of a game. I hope that Bolin and anyone else injured has a speedy recovery.

I just read that his dad said they'll likely get an MRI on Monday and won't know the severity until then.

 

FWIW, Bolin said his knee felt great on twitter yesterday.
