Chris Crocker returns to Bengals

Featured Replies

The team has re-signed safety Chris Crocker, who they released in April. Crocker, originally a third-round pick by the Browns in 2003, started all 16 games at safety for the Bengals last season and made 44 total starts for the team over the last four years. Crocker had 61 tackles and 3.5 sacks for the team last season, production that, even with the caveat of a history of knee issues, somewhat surprisingly wasn’t enough to get him a look with another team over the summer

When the Bengals first signed Crocker I was a fan. He was healthy and aggressive. As long as the 2012 version is healthy and aggressive I am all for adding Crocker for depth.

Taylor Mays is garbage so I guess why not.

Mays actually played pretty well against the Redskins. They actually used him in a smart way, he played about 50 snaps but the majority of them came on running plays. While they had Nate Clemons in at safety on passing plays. I kind of wish they would just tell him this off season hey just put on some weight so we can move you to outside linebacker. As an outside linebacker I think he may do well with his speed and not having to worry about guarding receivers.

The Bengals basically had not choice with this signing. Nate and Leon have yet to practice this week, so Adam Jones and Newman are the only healthy corners. They needed someone who knows the defense.

Chris Crocker is the anti-Christ.

Chris Crocker simply cannot play. How do we know? Reggie Nelson plays in front of him.

You act like Nelson is horrible, however there were other teams out there wanting Nelson this offseason too and were offering him about the same amount of money the Bengals gave him. Not to mention Nelson plays the other safety spot than what Crocker plays.

Crocker is horrible anyway you try to spin it. He would have been with a team if he wasn't.

Nelson is not worth the investment. The Mays/Nelson/Crocker trio is without question the worst trio in the NFL.

Well I can't make the argument in saying they are good, because they definitely as a group at safety are very weak. However I would venture to say there are plenty of other NFL fans out there for their own teams who may feel like they have some of the worst combination of players too. However I do agree they definitely are a weak group and would be in the bottom of the NFL in that area.

Crocker is so horrible that he had a pick yesterday! :D

Don't be silly, Jacksonville isn't exactly an offensive machine. He's terrible.

It was a ball that was overthrown right to him. If it was a good pass it would have have been caught easily.
