The game I watched with Bourbon last Friday, didn't include much of Hopkins after the return for a TD. Western Hills played good defense and contained him well. QB Charby Pope for Bourbon was the work horse that night.

How do you get that? Breathitt is undefeated and just beat two very good teams. Hazard coming off a State Championship in 2011 and Somerset who is coming off a Regional Championship loss last year. Breathitt is fine right where they are JMO. 3 and 4 can be switched around. If what I'm hearing is true, then next year we'll get to see a Belfry/Harlan County showdown

 

To play Devil's advocate, the Hazard win in my eyes at this point is not super impressive as it should be. The Bulldogs currently sit at 1-3 and anyone who has followed EKY football can attest that Hazard isn't at the same level as last year's team as graduation has left their line play on both sides of the ball to be very vulnerable. Hazard is still a nice quality team, but a 3A Title Contender with the experience Breathitt has should have won that game by 3-4 TD's, Breathitt needed a late turnover to avoid potentially going into OT.

 

The other knock on Breathitt is aside from those two games, they have one of the weakest schedules in 3A. I don't think Holcomb did this deliberately as Letcher Central was a quality team when they began their contract and Clay County seemed to be a program climbing to respectability. As it stands now Breathitt competes in the easiest 3A District, Letcher Central is potentially the worst 5A team in the state, Estill County is a bottom tier 3A team, Newport is a bottom tier 2A team, and Clay County is firmly a mediocre at best 4A team who will more than likely finish 4-6.

 

With all that said, I still personally consider Breathitt worthy of being ranked where they are because I know how talented and experienced they are, but if one wanted to make an argument against them there certainly is one that can be made.

Breathitt has what you may call 2 good wins, and should have been wins against 1A and 2A teams that have poor records....Belfry has played a much better schedule and as I have said many times this season, Belfry will dominate Breathitt in playoffs....Breathitt has no competition left on their schedule....ridiculous district they play in that is the weakest in the state...just my personal opinion....let's see how it plays out....

Morgan County will be a good test. You may not think so but I've seen them play and the talent they returned from last year and everything they endured over the summer has got those kids motivated besides Morgan County, Breathitt County is in probably the weakest district in KY.

Breathitt Co. will beat Morgan Co. 4 touchdowns or more.....and Morgan Co. is the toughest by far in the district....
