Harlan 38 Paintsville 37

I agree somewhat with you on many of your points. I disagree, however, on the point you made about defense. While I personally don't like the defense the Tigers play, simply because I like a more active, chaotic type over a containment defense, to suggest that the defense wasn't there for the Tigers is a little unexplainable considering Harlan's final point total. Have a good day.

I talked to a friend that was at the game and he knows alot about basketball, says Paintsville defence was so so and that Harlan didn't slow the game down as much as people are saying. Alot of times they threw the ball away after only one or two passes. They had 17 turnovers and put up forty some shots. He said that Harlan didn't let Paintsville have alot of layups and that was the different in the game. He said that they made Paintsville shoot jumpers. Anyone at the game see it different?

I know that Harlan had at least 10 offensive rebounds, can't give up that many and win in a low scoring game. You are right about the # of turnovers for Harlan, I believe it was right around 17, but I believe the difference in the game was from the FT line. Harlan was 11-14, Paintsville was 4-6! Can't win when you only shoot 6 free throws. What that says is you aren't getting as many drives to the basket and post entries, you are relying to much on your jump shots!

Both defenses did a nice job. Anytime teams hold other teams under 40 points, the defense is the contributing factor. Now the offenses for both were stagnant, but this can be blamed on the defense of both.

Paintsville Stats 15/45 Field Goals (3/17 3's) 4/6 FT 21 Rebounds 6-off -15 def- 10 Turnovers 8 steals.

Harlan Stats - FG's 13/39 1/9 3's 11/14 FT 27 Rebounds 7/20- 14 TO's 6 steals.

A good summary is that the Tigers just didn't show up!!

Stats very close just like the game. HDE had Harlan I believe with 17 turnovers.

If you get the attention that comes along with being "hyped" then you might as well accept that some of the attention is going to be negative. Landon is definitely overrated and his premature crowning as "king" by many Tiger faithful on this site have made the majority of other posters more critical of his game. Sometimes its better to keep quieet and let others tell you how good your team is than to say it yourself and then be proved wrong... There's no way the Tigers can live up to the expectation of many Paintsville posters, so when the criticism rolls in just sit back and know that you asked for it. :thumb:

The Tiger faithful have never been known for being quiet....I don't think it will start now.

Say what you want, but who really cares whether a player is hyped or not??? The reality is that Landon Slone could walk in the door at any 15th Region school and would start! But that doesn't make him the best thing since JR Vanhoose! He is a Sophomore, and time will tell whether he ends up great or whether he just stays very good! So why all the negativity toward him and why bash the Paintsville fans for heaping praise on him! If he doesn't deserve it the only people that will be embarrassed is the Tiger fans and if he does deserve it then why knock him over a bad game! Lets focus more on the team and the game against Harlan!

I think it is very funny when BMR is quoted in the newspaper as stating that the Tigers were outcoached in this game!!

With BMR and no fewer than 5-6 assistants, the Tigers should never be outcoached!!!

I think it is just amazing that individuals have the seuth-saying ability to encapsulate one player's career or an entire team's season with information gathered from one game. Very impressive!!!
