You act like calling a screen pass means a team is not going for a first down, and so you would be wrong for acting like going for a screen pass means they weren't going for a first down. Teams on third down do go for screen passes sometimes because on third down you see teams bring the blitz and a screen is a good way to burn a blitz. Now should they do a screen pass every third down? No, but yes it is smart to do a screen on third down sometimes and does not mean they were not trying for the first down. So you are wrong on that. Just because it was not what you wanted to see, does not mean they weren't trying for it. Yes it does and no I'm not wrong. UK has been so conservative lately this further laments that fact. No way should they have threw a screen pass on that play. Not on 3rd and 8 when you are having success in the air and you just threw a screen pass on the previous play for 2 yards.

I just went back on my DVR to watch the play and you are right on the fact that it was a bad play call. I have no problem with a screen on 3rd and 8, but the screen pass they ran is not the type of screen I would have used. So I am now in agreement that it was a bad call.
September 2, 201214 yr I think on a muffed punt it would have been a touchback. I think your right actually. He never had possession so on a muff it would have just been a touchback if UL recovered in the end zone.
